Why do people want/need to see EXIF data? I honestly don't get it. I can see if you'd like to see the shutter speed of a long exposure pic, or the aperture of a photo with alot of bokeh or something. But that's just "for fun", otherwise, EXIF is pretty useless to other people.
It's nice to see what the pic was shot with and with what settings, and it doesn't take anything away from the picture so I don't see why not
I use it so I can look back and see what I was doing when I took a particular shot. You might only be interested in shutter speed or aperture, but I like to see detailed settings and specs of pictures that I like so I can have an idea on how to emulate that look. It's just an easy way to provide specs that would cover all the "what did you use..." questions as well.

As you can see from the sky. The only thing I did with it is apply some fill light to bring out the foreground a bit more against the clouds. I really don't know wether I like it or hate it. But whatever. The other two are just random boring shots because I don't have time to go out a lot. Check out my Flickr(click on images) to view my other pictures okkkk
all this is mine. the light graffiti is legit. i love doing light graffiti :buddy: i will post more when im not lazy.
Question, how do I do light grafitti and stay in the picture at the same time? Google is no help. Or did you get a friend to do it for you?
Question, how do I do light grafitti and stay in the picture at the same time? Google is no help. Or did you get a friend to do it for you?
Well, you can do it by having a second curtain flash on a long exposure, do the graffiti first, and then when the flash shoots, you are "frozen".
Camping/hiking was fun okay what do you do to make it work? Flickr changed/lowered the coolness
Obligatory 365 21
Well, you can do it by having a second curtain flash on a long exposure, do the graffiti first, and then when the flash shoots, you are "frozen".
Uh, I should probaly mention I know absouletly nothing. So, long exposure, curtain flash? I just recently made the descision to buy a DSLR Camera and get into photography (Nikon D3000 is my plan btw). But I've been fiddiling with my friends DSLR (Can't remeber what type, pretty crappy one though) and trying to do some light graffiti, but haven't figured out how to have the person be there, without it bluring or ghosting. I.E: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ioiMlDhC_IU&feature=related He runs around drawing the word "metacafe", yet when the picture turns out he's standing under it "holding" it. Thats what I'm trying to get at. EDIT: Also, how do I avoid being in the picture? Usually I or a friend gets caught as a ghostly figure, like the hoaxs of olden days.
http://oreilly.com/pub/h/1771 [editline]10:36PM[/editline] Also on the topic of obligatory 365 and hurrdurrr light-streams 10/365 by OM-1n, on Flickr

To take a picture a shutter opens to expose the sensor (in film photography it would be oddly enough, film). The longer the exposure, the more information is captured. A flash works by illuminating a scene with a high powered burst of light. Light painting works by having a long exposure so the light is blurred and captured all throughout the movements. Rear sync flash works by firing the flash (as mentioned) right as the shutter is closing, freezing whatever the flash illuminated. Since it was the last bit of information captured by the sensor, you have a nice frozen, non-blurred person in the picture. If you were to fire the flash first, all the other information would record over that making you look like a ghost. 2) To get rid of ghosting you have to work faster, or make sure you aren't getting light on you. Edit: Ok shit explanation, hopefully I didn't confuse you more.

I'll try it again next time I fiddle with my friends DSLR, and if it doesn't work, I'm sure it's because I'm inexperinced, and I'll just keep practicing. Thanks alot.

never (never say never but when it looks shitty) put the subject at the middle, rule of thirds goddamn
He pulled off the 5th one down pretty well. If everyone stuck strictly to the rule of thirds it would get boring so fast. Composition is something, like most things in photography, to be experimented with. Example.

Hello Kitty by OM-1n, on Flickr but usually rule of thirds (or somewhere along those lines, you don't need to follow the grid 100%) combined with having nothing distracting at the extreme corners (like my top right corner has) yields the best results. Hello Kitty by OM-1n, on Flickr And with slight cropping, much better. Crop, Levels and Saturation are the only 3 tools I'd *need* in photoshop Big Ben by OM-1n, on Flickr And when taking pictures of tall things, you need to get something for scale (like the bus etc in here) and show as much as you can from the thing. Also, getting close with wide angles yield good results often. Also you see here how much even the slightest tilt affects the image.
As a final good-bye to my EOS 350D I took some pics of my animals; Sofie; Timmian; And the way too curious Juniper;
what ur gettin now
That's a very cute rabbit.
what ur gettin now
A Canon EOS 550D, 7D or possibly even 5D mark II with some AWESOME lenses. (10-22mm F/3.5-4.5 & 28-135mm F/1.8 or other)
That's a very cute rabbit.
All my animals are very cute.
28-135mm F/1.8 or other)
the fuck also that lens is midrange crap lol, 24-105L is what you want if you want an "awesome" tourist-lens I have that, 14mm Samyang (sharper than 10x more expensive Canon lol), 50mm 1.8 that has very little use though, and soon I will get the 200mm 2.8L - decent lens lineup for anybody. (And 35-80mm but don't tell about that to anybody :ssh:) [editline]06:59PM[/editline] And 7D and 5DMK2 are for completely different purposes imho, and neither are better. 550D is for the poor and Irish that can afford neither.
