A Canon EOS 550D, 7D or possibly even 5D mark II with some AWESOME lenses. (10-22mm F/3.5-4.5 & 28-135mm F/1.8 or other) All my animals are very cute.
Good luck putting a 10-22 on the 5D MKII lol
Good luck putting a 10-22 on the 5D MKII lol
nothing stops you doing that, except a small plastic tab on the lens. [editline]05:48PM[/editline] if you are an idiot and want EF-S lenses on FF
Since I haven't purchased a new camera yet I've taken some pictures in the mean time to keep me busy. I am using the EOS 350D/Rebel XT W/the HDR technique & owning a 18-55mm lens. It has issues (It is from 2004 and looks generally awful.) I can't blame the equipment as much as I can blame myself. My compositions are quite off and I manage to get some bad sunlight into each image). However I do feel these images need a bit of attention. The results are mediocre at best, but here they are anyway. Image 1: Lier, Norway. This image excluding it's tint & the merging of the high, low & medium exposure images is unedited. [img_thumb]http://dl.dropbox.com/u/1467131/CrawEasterEgg/1.png[/img_thumb] My tripod is broken (The one leg won't attach) so there's some awful ghosting here. I did however like the crepuscular rays on it. (They were barely visible to the naked eye, enhanced by merging the HDR imagery substantially.) The same story as above applies to this next image. I don't feel interested in this image, and the DoF looks really odd. I can't quite put my finger on it. [img_thumb]http://dl.dropbox.com/u/1467131/CrawEasterEgg/2.png[/img_thumb] The third one would be awesome, but I went home before I realized I captured the worst damn lens flare I could have imagined. The composition was a bit off, and it is over-exposed (Something I would have spent some time on fixing if it wasn't ruined from before). I would have been fairly happy about this image in general. [img_thumb]http://dl.dropbox.com/u/1467131/CrawEasterEgg/3.png[/img_thumb] However I am fairly new to photography, and for my outdated equipment & restricted area of travel I like to think I did decently. If you have something negative to say, don't repeat any of what I mentioned above. If you have something positive to say I'd be more than happy to hear it.
What, is a plastic tab all? The mount doesn't fit at all as far as i remember. We had 10-22's at my school and I used to play around with them and we tried to put them on my first 5D. The socket wasn't right.
Don't worry, not getting the 10-22 anyway.

Minus the bottom-right and top-left I like all of them. :h:
Minus the bottom-right and top-left I like all of them. :h:
Highly appreciated, i would of figured both on the left as the two worst out of the bunch.

Been trying HDR and tone-mapping, have i done it right?

This one is powerful. Send it to Unicef.
This one is powerful. Send it to Unicef.
hahaha, i'll keep that in mind
Been trying HDR and tone-mapping, have i done it right?
Uhhhh. HDR is a technique to get exposures right and to get a more 'real' picture seeing as how a lens can't capture exactly what the eye sees. You used it to get this WOWHDRWOW effect. Stray away from HDR unless you have issues with overexposed clouds or whatever. Just my oppinion. Others might like it but I personally would only use it if I really needed it.
in that situation i have seen used to produce natural looking images where both the room and window are exposed properly, there is proberly a better way to do it though like metering the window and fill-flashing the room (im not to hot on metering though)

Other way would be to shoot in .RAW and expose the window properly, maybe a step over-exposed, then bring back the detail in Photoshop with the Fill-light option. Works good too.
or shut the curtains
ya or ask the sun to be less bright!!!!!
seriously he could just wait until the light is perfect (and matches the dynamic range of his crappy sensor)
Photography has interested me for awhile, and I finally scrounged up enough summer savings to get a Canon Rebel XS (says 1000D on the manual, not sure exactly what that means). I know this might sound as a lame excuse.... But my surroundings aren't that special at all, the landscape is mostly boring and I don't want to bring my camera when running or mountain biking. Other stuff around me? I'd have to think about what I can possibly take pictures of. I have no animals or children lying around. I have no macro lens either... I do however have the 18-55mm Stock lens, a 70-300mm lens and a 35mm 1.8 lens. Can anyone suggest things I could be taking pictures of?

I recently went to a hot air balloon event and shot some pictures. Now, I could care less about some damn balloons, but it was fun taking pictures there. So I suggest grabbing your camera and finding small festivals, parties, just anything like that to take pictures. I forgot to put this in my post, but does anyone have C&C for my photos? I pretty much just started and I want to get better.
never (never say never but when it looks shitty) put the subject at the middle, rule of thirds goddamn
Yes, the rule of thirds is a rule of composition, but some rules are meant to be broken. A centered subject can sometimes look good - especially when you are trying to get a sort of symmetry going on.
