I know this might sound as a lame excuse....
But my surroundings aren't that special at all, the landscape is mostly boring and I don't want to bring my camera when running or mountain biking.
Other stuff around me? I'd have to think about what I can possibly take pictures of. I have no animals or children lying around.
...
Can anyone suggest things I could be taking pictures of?
things that are not special are often very special just because they're not. Look at the mundane and ordinary with open eyes and you may see that even things you've never paid attention to in your life could be worth a thousand words if you put your mind to it.

just keep your eyes open, you will find a nice juxtaposition of otherwise-boring scenery eventually
but whatever you do, don't take pictures of your pet
Macro Polio.
I ordered the 5DmkII (YAY!) and I can pick it up on Tuesday.
Until then... KEEPIN' BUSY with my old one, 100mm lens. 350D.
Here's the pics I took from 5 minutes walkin' around my street.
(All of them are completely and utterly untouched by editing software.)

I think you should resize those with the largest dimension being around 600 and have them as links to the fullsize. You don't need PNG either. those thumbnails still load the whole image and it kills my DSL.
That said, I'm jealous of your 5D2. Can't wait to see what you do with it!
I like macro2/2, the composition is nice.
Off topic
Does anyone know how to get this kind of look? It looks like they changed the blacks to a sort of blue.

looks like split toning
looks like split toning
this. It's really easy to do in lightroom
I have a weird method of, in Photoshop, adding a blue background, then duping the layer thrice, using the background eraser on brush size 2500, then playing with the opacity of the layer. Odd method of doing it, but it yields the same results.

get lightroom
saves time, money etc
why anyone would use photoshop over lightroom to edit levels i don't know
Last set of macros;
(To make Bope's DSL survive without having to spend half the time on making thumbs w/links, links only.
Note that they are similar to the images I posted on the top of the page.)

Lol thanks guys. I just picked up a copy of lightroom.
Haha thanks spetzaz. Getting a flickr account would help with resizing.
I like the 4th one. great comp and the macro looks pretty good.
Congratulations.
I checked out the presets for split toning, but it's all black and white. How do I retain color? I'm new to all this post processing, sorry.
Anyone mind if I post some shots I already posted in another thread of my own that didn't get any real attention?
I don't mind, go on (:

Ba-bam!
Done!

Found these laying around along with an old polaroid land camera. (~1960s) They're pretty good, this was shot at f/13 with a 1 sec exposure time, but the only source of light was actually one of these bulbs shooting through the screen of my lightbox. I used a self timer and manually triggered the flash from ~5 meters away.

Can you upload them to OOFT?
Filesmelt won't load for me.

Reupped to a new host, accidentally hit reply instead of edit. Pic in the original post should work now.

that box is literally screaming with 60's goodness, it almost feels like an over-the-top parody. I love it so badly :buddy:

It's original, from my grandparent's attic.
I have an old Super-8mm wind-up camera and a battery from them too, I'll take some pictures of those too, if you'd like.
the only old camera thing I have is an old Zenit SLR camera from the 1980 Moscow olympics, it's got the olympic logo on it and everything (it's a pretty poor camera)
I have some pretty old camera stuff that I got from my dad a while back, for the most part all of his stuff is for Yashika and Minolta SLR's.

That is a nice picture, right there!
Howcome it looks greenish though? Is it the glass?
I often have these inspiring moments with landscapes and urban area's. I never have my camera with me though because I am always traveling from A to B and I don't have the time (If I'd bring my camera) to stop and take a picture.

a friend of mine got a picture of a cruise liner passing the statue of liberty the other day, it was nearly as tall as it from sea level :psyduck:

They are blurry, cause these lil' buggers are quick, & it's inside so the shutter speed had to be low.;

I just go into curves and go into the blue layer and edit it as i see fit.
or there's selective colour, replacing black with blue.
