Sivics, props for the photo, if you wouldn't mind explaining, how d'you specifically go about getting a shot like this? I'd noticed the full moon's brightness last night and wished to try and capture it, but it didn't work out right. I have a Nikon D5000 with a kit lens (18-55), could you recommend a starting point of settings such as iso/aperture etc, cheers.
Yea the moon was just a white dot so I took a shot before where you could see the moon properly and blended them together.
Just got hired by a real estate agent to shoot interiors.
How do we feel about the 10-22 efs? There's no way I can afford a full frame.
My widest lens is an 8mm but its fisheye, so its a professional turnoff. The 18-55 kit at the bottom of my bag was my only option, and even at 18 i was feeling a bit cramped (not to mention pissed at the shitty quality).
I liked mine a lot. Used it for club shots, lots of other things actually. It's a solid lens but has LOTS of barrel distortion on its wider end. Can be alleviated somewhat in post.
I say go for it.
Shot these cool kids with it.

Nice ^
They kinda look dead though. Like wax figures or something.

It's shitty quality because I didn't have the original with me and had to copy from my deviantart gallery.
But other than the quality what should I work on?

she looks creepy robotic... I've never really liked the whole basic boob-cupping pose, but she's also looking straight at the camera. Bugs me a bit, but hey everything's better in person :pervert:
in lightroom howd you pick a color from the image when doing split toning?
Sorry about the Facebook compression but I don't feel like re-uploading.

Taken with my old Pentax SLR.. 100% Analogue.

Kind of a cliché, but I think I put a good story in it. Notice the hand to the right.

Nice shots, do you know what Pentax SRL? My uncle just gave me K1000 yesterday. Can't wait to get my hands on some film.
Yeah I just bought an Olympus OM10 at thrift store from the glorious 'lock and key' shelf and bought batteries only to find the previous owner had broken the film advance, and thusly the shutter mechanism too.

Perfect use of a relatively long shutter speed. Captured the movement, a lot of people have trouble with this.
A tripod would have helped greatly in sharpness.

Yeah, I had it rock solid on a log, but I had to assume a focus then set it down :|
I took some more that day. Once I get around to converting them into something DA will accept, Ill post them too.

20 minute exposure of the sky. It's a crap photo, but I like the purple color.

You can fix old SLR:s quite easily, I had broken film advance lever and lighting meter on OM1... it actually was just stuck, I only needed to open up few screws and put few parts where they should've been. And the light-meter had just a wire loose. (luckily)
Back from vacation. Got a chance to try out my new Tamron 17-50 f2.8 so I'll upload some pictures in an hour or so ok ok
I'm going to post here instead of the "Which camera is right for me" thread, because that is dead.
Nikon D3000, what's your thoughts? Is there a better camera I can get for the same price range?
I'm a beginner photographer, only just learned about ISO, Apeture etc. But I can't stand point and shoots, so thats why I'm getting a DSLR instead of a point and shoot.

That's a pretty good starters camera. Get it with the kit lens(18-55 VR) and start learning.
With Canon you can, with Nikon you shall die in the noise!!111

Personally, I'd say wait a month and get the D3100. It can shoot 1080p video with continuous focus, and has a 14MP sensor. I have the D3000, and if you're getting it for the guide feature, I would think twice because I have used the guide mode maybe twice in the entire time I've owned the camera.

The night after I took the river picture I tried this, unfourtunately, I had forgotten an external shutter release, so I couldnt use bulb, and was stuck with the maximum 30 second exposure.

that thread is always open to new bumps, but at least you came here instead of making a thread. Yes, it's a great starter. Check out the features of the D5000 and see if it's worth the extra chunk of change, that one is well worth its price as well.

Bah, I'm disappointed with it. I was hoping for a higher up model. When Nikon announced a new camera I was hoping for it to be a replacement D90 or higher.
Sadly that's not the case, and even if it was I would probably wait a year or two to buy it. My D90 is only ~2.5 years old so it still has a long way to go.
Edit:
Scratch that, the D300s is basically what I just described.
