Because PNGs are like 2MB for even smallish pictures, and there's really no advantage in something like a photograph to using them. I don't even save at quality 12 for my JPEGs.
I use quality 10 progressive scan JPEGs.

Not very creative but it's better than nothing. Highlights were blown, used recover, only got grayscale data from it, hastily tried to recolour them, came out kind of shit.
Interesting story behind this: This was a two family home, one family got out in time and none of them were hurt. The other family was out on vacation. The roof only took about five minutes to burn through. Happened when I was sleeping, so I didn't manage to get any pictures of it burning.

That's mist in the second frog picture, by the way. It's not grain.
It still takes away from the picture, looks a lot like old salt and pepper grain on BW film.
I like the first a lot, but if you could have, you should have stacked focus.
I just don't really like the second, I find the composition rather boring it also seems too saturated for my taste. (Calibrated my monitor again a couple days ago, so I don't think it's my monitor.).
Went out, using the good weather. I see the trip more as an aducational trip as I still don't know shit about photography.

Finally getting around to editing up photos for my friend's family. I thought I was doing better but editing raw and zooming in ends up freaking me out a little. Hard seeing a dead friend in life size. :sigh:

Random photo of the view from my balcony yesterday.
hung out a bit last night with my friendAlex, took a bunch of pictures roaming aimlessly around in the dark. Cool stuff, ended up being a creepy nighttime post apocolyptic horror feeling shoot. She's really into zombies and gas mask stuff. :buddy:

Also, I'm tinkering with the noise reduction stuff in Raw editing on photoshop CS5. You get some really awesome effects if you turn it way up, stuff looks painted. :buddy:

Lots of tweaking colours, curves, levels, brightness, contrast, some additional stuff such as colouring, blur, vignette.
I'm sorry to hear about your friend.
Once I start getting some good shots this summer maybe I'll post a bunch here. Been rather busy and a tad lazy.

Anyways, I just got back from the funeral. [url=http://www.flickr.com/photos/rocphotography/sets/72157624074372981/]The pictures I took of her just a few weeks ago[/url] were everywhere.
Framed up front on big easels, on a big poster, in a slide show of her life looping on the TV, even on the cards everyone took home-

I feel absolutely honored.
In a strange twist, her grandma's cousin[?] who couldn't make it apparently saw my pictures. Her grandma told me about this man- [url=http://www.keithlander.com/]Keith Lander[/url], who works for playboy and now has his own company/studio/whatever.
So, he complimented my photos. Like, hardcore complimented, which was said to be something that man doesn't take lightly. He wanted to know who I am. I was then told by two separate uncles the same thing, and now everyone has my info and is going to try and hook us up to talk stuff out.
I wish I'd have found this out through different circumstances... but damn if linds' isn't smirking down at me.

I love the third one, the first two come off as a little set up, which I don't like (but that's just a personal preference). I think they look great, but I suck at photography so what do I know. :buddy:
I woke up at 6:30 this morning for school and I saw a tint of red coming through my window. I've never seen the sky look this amazing when I wake up (except the time we had that red dust storm in sydney). It was just a vibrant orange and violet.
I quickly went up to the window and took 3 quick photos before the sun came up.

Nice. When I was driving back home from my long drive the other day, the rain finally stopped pouring and a MASSIVE, crystal clear rainbow ended up floating along side me for a good ten minutes. :unsmith:
