Why do I always forget to visit here?
I tend to pop in once every few weeks say a few words and leave for ages.
I used to love creationism corner... Why do I always forget about it now?
I just got the 5D mark II, and now I'm pissed.
It might be because the mailservice trasported without good protection, but when I was putting on the first lens, brand new, the focusing screen fell out of the camera.
SO I'm getting a new one put in on Monday.
did you like, try to put it back in

1. Uninteresting subject matter and the dof is too thin.
2. Nothing is in focus at all, you should of put the plant at least in focus, however colours are nice.
3. Focus should be on the legs and not on the wall. Would of been good to see the background blurred and the legs slightly more in focus.
4. Boring shot of metal bar.
5. Colours totally ruined too desaturated and warm. You should of zoomed in more on the person and got him all in frame and maybe in portrait.
6. Have no idea what the focus of the picture is and too much sky in the shot since it's overblown. If the guy was the main focus you should of gotten much closer and maybe taken the picture below him for an interesting angle.
7. Boring shot of the sky, nothing in interest. Also the sun too distracting.
Hope this helps and I've tried to give constructive criticism and hopefully you don't take offense.
Hey guys, here's just another candid shot of my friends - my favourite sort of photography.
I love how they've become accustomed to me shooting them. They no longer pose and pull stupid face and are completely relaxed in front of the camera.

I really like this one.
What do you guys think?
did you like, try to put it back in
Are you kidding me? It's a focusing screen.
If I get as much as a single fingerprint on it it's permanently ruined.

I love when this happens.
I love when this happens.
Yeah, it's great isn't it?
It took a fair while. Some people are naturally comfortable in front of the lens, while others just aren't. It's stupid to try and push people - let them take their own time. It will happen if you're persistent, without being pushy, it just takes some people longer than others.

I need C&C Please, I know the basics of photography, but I'd like to become better.
I have a canon Rebel T2i 550D.
Can you guys give me some tips about shooting portraiture?
Instead of my school hiring someone too do it, they asked me and my friend too.
I don't have any of the fancy lights too do it indoors so we're probably going too do it outdoors.
I've got a Rebel T1i
50mm f/1.8
A Tripod (Who doesnt?)

and a lovely assistant.
How can I get decent lighting/composition/etc with what i've got?

I like the picture of the clouds. Looks like it has a lot of depth to it.
The one of the stars looks kind of boring with the roof in it. I don't know what it's missing but the stars are cool.
The one with the lamp shining onto the wall is nice but you might want a bit more of the wall's length. It looks kinda flat as it is.

Nevertheless, on something as expensive as the 5DmkII I wouldn't take the chance.
Especially not when I can get a trained professional camera repair man to do it for me for free.
Also, my current one fell on the floor when I took off the bodycap. Dust = PERMARUINED.
taking a camera to a workshop to get the screen put back to place is like sending in a computer to get the cd-rom tray closed
jeeze, it is an expensive camera, but no need to be handless still
and the screen is not "permaruined", just some airblower and it should be fine unless grinded in the dust.
Yeah, so what there's dust on it? Just blow it off. Unless the dust has scratched the glass there is no reason to get it replaced.
I understand your concern though. I'd be freaked if something like this happened to mine.
I'm not buying an airblower when I can get a new screen for free.
I don't see any reason why not too.
Well airblowers have other uses as well, but whatever.
You need the airblower unless you like dust on your mirror/sensor
I found fingerprints on the LCD, dust on the mirror system, the battery was half used and the focus lens was loose with fingerprints on it. Right out of the box.
I called the guys up, turned out they had shipped a used product and claimed it was new. They apologized promptly and sent me a new one.

I have a dust want kit made specifically for that.

i would just blow the dust off instead of grinding it against the sensitive glass plate/mirror, and then wiping some possibly impure alcohol on it, but whatever man.

That's just God messing with you for thinking there is such a thing as a 28-135 f/1.8 lens lol

I really wish I'd thought of using my Polarizer.
Whoa, never knew 450D/Rebel XSi had a third name
I am pretty proud of myself now!

no editing. this is a 8mp camera btw and I sort of notice now the quality of the image.
What do your guys camera have?

Yeah the rebels go by the 'Kiss' in japan.

Megapixels don't matter as much as the quality of the glass that you're shooting through.
An 8 megapixel shitbox with L series IS glass (think $2500 lens) will run circles around a 5dmkII (think $2500 camera) with a $200 kit lens.
It's all about the lens' ability to be sharp enough to make proper use of those pixels.
okay, whatever that means. I'll figure it out. I think I understand.
So is that picture worthy or close to worthy of being called 8mp?
A few pictures I took. I'm getting back into Photography a bit. These were taken with a point and shoot so... :ohdear:

Oh btw, is anyone else being logged out of facepunch every fifteen minutes of so? It normally doesn't do that for me.

Megapixels is the size, not the quality. it's literally "pixels x 1,000,000", so basically it's a measurement of the overall resolution. By cropping the photo or resizing it, you're making it a smaller megapixel equivalent.
The quality of the sensor in the camera, mixed with the quality of the glass of your lens, is what really matters. It's a good picture, but there's nothing to tell whether or not it's truly 'worthy' of its named quality unless we can see the original size.

hmmm Okay, I understand it a bit better now. Thanks for the info!
This is what I am using by the way...
