Yes, you have talent.
Yes, you have talent.
Lol how can you say that when he made a picture of a Coke glass. My left buttcheek can take a picture like that, but he is in no-way talented.
In all seriousness, you can't judge talent by one picture, especially one like that.
A good way to check If you have talent is to go outside and shoot some pictures there instead of around the house.
Your shot is compositionally very bad. Look up the rule or thirds and you'll know what I'm talking about.
Post some more pictures in this thread and I'll have a look if they are better :)
Just keep trying, finding out new stuff and you'll get there!
I took this photo mabye four years ago, and until I finally get enough money to buy a new camera, it's the most recent I have.
Do I have any talent at all? Friends told me I do, but they're not really the best ya know?
You shouldn't really be showing us pictures from four years ago, because you might be completely different now. Don't you have like an old point and shoot lying around, or even your phone camera, just to get back in the feel of photography?
I don't consider myself a photographer of any real kind but I guess it couldn't hurt to share some of the pictures I took at the zoo. It's my favorite place to take pictures just because animals are way funner to take pictures of than anything else to me.
Incoming BIG image dummmpp. Sorry I can't img_thumb for some reason, it's not working
Most of your images lacks composition, darks, more vibrant colors & textures (in the image).

Can yoou elaborate a bit? Like I said, I'm new to all this photography and whatnot.

Is the greenish tint added in post or is it a lens filter?

Ohh I see. I guess that would be kind of hard to accomplish with zoo animals. Unless I'm missing something. Thanks for the info though.

No. Composition is where you choose where your subjects are in the frame. The difference between a photographer and a person with a camera is that we don't just press the shutter and hope. You have to create an interesting composition. Subject matter right in the middle of the picture gets very stale very fast.
Ah, now I see.

Like I said though, I don't really consider myself a photographer. I just want to maybe better my photos just so they're not terrible.

I looked around a bit, and found a old point and shoot. But it's not that good. I mean, theres not much more I can do with this thing other then set it to B&W and zoom.
But I did take two photos on the way to a friends, sorry for them both being B&W

Once again, sorry for the overuse of B&W, and not intresting subjects I know.

It would still be better than taking no photographs at all

Both images are both at an angle, which i was told, when i first started, shouldn't be done as it kind of ruins where you should be looking. As it's already been said, work on composition, rule of thirds and subject. In the background of the second image i can see a climbing frame thingy, even that would be interesting as a subject, if done properly

You can use B&W all you want in my opinion. You should try using something like photoshop, or GIMP, to work on the contrasts and shadows and highlights with the picture. That would make the B&Ws more interesting!

This is a picture taken in an abandoned barn near my house. I waited 30 minutes for the sun to break through the clouds. By the time that happened I tossed dust around, so the beam became visible.

que onda cananda bro, try resizing those bad boys. it sucks to have to scroll to see an enitre image, especially when I paid $300 for a 1080p monitor to avoid that. You also got no subjects or composition, just empty blurred colors. I can see that its starfish and water, but its really not that aesthetically straightforward. And no, that doesn't make it abstract. These are just zoomed in snapshots of water. While they are definitely pretty as in I'd want to be there, I'm just not feeling it artistically. To summarize, you might as well have taken pictures of your grandma's floral print carpeting, from a top down view. Good start mate. Have a look at this.
Time to get selfish. Here's some content from the last few days.

bopie, asking once again, where's the tint coming from?
Ah sorry I must have missed you on the last page.
It's post. I use Lightroom to do it. I go into 'Develop" then scroll down on the right side tools (I have no idea what I'm talking about) to the split toning. I set the highlights to; Hue - 80, Saturation - 30. Shadows; Hue - 240, Saturation - 100. I like the shadows to be more blue, and the highlights to be a pale green sometimes yellow. I just play with the sliders until I like the way it looks. Turn up the exposure just a smidge, and export. I love giving dark areas a sort of deep blue, something about it is just appealing to me.
I'm afraid I over do it though, please be honest and let me know what you're thinking lol.
Well in the last batch, I think that the 1st is fine, the 2nd is a bit oversaturated in the greens, I'd make it more subtle, 3rd one is too motley (should've used a slower aperture maybe), last one is fine. That's just my opinion though.
P.S. I've noticed that greenish-yellow highlights are a feature of a lot of recent movies.
motley?
too colorful, variegated
I see, well stopping down would make that more apparent as it would result in sharper detail.
Anyway, thank you for the crit, much appreciated.
I meant to open it up but confused the terminology. Bad day today.
It's all good mate. As long as you got your message across.
I really like the light in the photo. And I overexposed it a bit and it looks great. Split toned with mat green and dark blue.
