There was a football game today.
use ISO 1600 for the action if you weren't already, noise is better than blur, and Lightroom is really good at removing it
I imagine you're probably shooting f/5.6 at the long end so try that with a shutter speed of 1/400, hopefully it will not be too dark
Blur shows motion
Blur shows motion
is he wanting to show that the players "are in fact, moving" or does he want a good sports action shot?
if he just wants to show motion then he can do a 30s exposure and get a picture that's completely worthless in the field of sports photography
I was using an ISO of 1600, and my lens is utter crap since it's a kit lens so the lowest it can go is 5.6
[editline]04:34PM[/editline]
So really those shots were the best I could get with this lens, because no matter what I did they got blurry as hell.

nice, which picture inspired you?

that sucks, I wish I had a T2i or something because 1600 f/5.6 is my max too, I've shot at brighter fields so I didn't have the blur problem, but I would love to shoot 6400+

I remember I saw a picture with you holding a picture of yourself. And I thought: I have to try that.
Anyways, I've been out on a trip in the woods with my family. I have taken a lot of good shots. Can't wait to show some of them! Lots of mushrooms! :)
b l u r, are you from Denmark btw? You look like it.

I'm liking this shot, it gives off a vintage effect. Is that natural or something else?

I like the bokeh background, it stops this being a pretty standard image of a flower.
Got my Canon EF50mm f/1.8 II lens :D.

Had a good opportunity to play with my 50mm lens I just got. Found this in the back yard hanging out. Decided to take some photos and leave it be.
I believe it is a orb weaver though.

I know this one is underexposed, but thought it was cool. There is a huge storm right over my area so I didn't get a chance to get a nice shot. =( Now we got lighting I'm going to go try and get some shots of that once it darkens up a bit.

Good lighting on the first! All the details of the body is visible! I really hate spiders. How big is that guy?

Went on a trip today. Really foggy weather - very nice!

I like this one because there are three layers of contrast in the woods. The same foggy weather.

I think it's unbalanced. Too much empty space, doesn't give "peace of mind". All the others are nice though

No I think it's fine. In fact I think it could be a bit brighter. It's a little underexposed right now.
i was trying to get the perfect mirror portraiti dont think i did but i got a couple of ok images, also i totally forgot i could turn the flash intensity down which would have helped. btw how the fuck do you export a mirrored image from lightroom?

Wait... Are you a thirteen year old girl on MySpace?
obviously not i just am not comfortable using a tripod+remote trigger for self portraits, i can never get decent compositon and when i do my expression is usually horrible.
latircole is really good at it, would be interested to know if he uses a tethered laptop or one of these 7" hdmi hotshoe monitors you can get so he can see what he is doing

Tether it to your laptop and use EOS utility? it'll save you a lot of hassle.

I just use the tripod + remote trigger, and take a couple of test shots to get the right settings. I just take a lot of self portraits in one "sitting" so there are usually at least 1 good shot out of them.
What did you do to get this effect?
[sp]Yes I'm a noob.[/sp]
[editline]03:28PM[/editline]
Oh wow. I really like this girl's style: http://art-pixie.blogspot.com/
Not sure what you mean. If you meant the shallow depth of field (the blurry background), that's achieved through wider apertures. If you mean the color, then that could be a multitude of ways to get that. You could play with curves in photoshop, use split toning when processing the RAW file, change the color balance, etc. There's really a variety of methods, and the best way to figure them out is by just playing around.
There's some good tutorials out there if that's what you're looking for.
Some random shots from my trip to Scotland on the weekend. Will upload more later.
