I like the second one better.
If I were trying to capture the brightness of the moon, I would have taken a shot with scenery illuminated on the ground, with the moon in the upper part of the frame.
The first one has too much negative space, but it looks good.
my sister got cigarette ash on my camera
Why did you have your sensor exposed while someone is smoking a cigarette near you?

Went for a walk in the forest, and found some 'shrooms.
Tips, feedback or anything?
Use larger aperture
smoke them
smoke them
"Smoking 'shrooms."?
What are you on about?
Just started getting into digital photography, taking a course on it. Tried experimenting with back lighting and side lighting a bit on my dog. Tips?

Good shot and setup, but please for the love of potatoes use a wet towel to clean your peoples' shoes then dry them off... dusty footprints everywhere :psyduck:
Oh my god! :byodood:
But it is still a nice shot.

I think the dog's face should really be on the left third line not on the right one
I know this is a photography thread, but I'd like to ask a question about cameras.
Which camera would be the best in shooting low light shots? By low light I mean night or dark rooms and such. What I want is to get the same output I see with my eyes. I don't know much about cameras, so I am not sure if that's possible.

any camera body with a high max ISO (and Nikons generally have less noise at extreme ISO levels) and a fast lens with an aperture of f/2.8 or better
ISO 1600 (most DSLRs have this) and a lens at f/1.8 will fare okay in a really dim room, but for a dark room it won't be very good. so you will have to spend a decent amount if you want to shoot in a "dark" room as if it were normally lit
Canon's T2i and Nikon's D7000 can both do ISO 12800 which is 8 times as much light as a camera at ISO 1600, so. . .
also I'm thinking shutter speeds in the range of 1/15s (avoid at all costs) to 1/60s (okay)
So it's very costy? Damn
Did anyone get any pictures of the harvest moon tonight??
the d7000 actually boost to iso 25600, doesnt seem a comparable camera to the t2i though, more like the 60d and 7d from a quick browse of the specs and its pricing
d-day in australia, last year.

I didn't notice it, I was so busy setting up the lighting. :sigh:

Some are a bit under-exposed. I told my friend not to wear a black jacket, but he did it anyway.
Messing around with Fake tilt shift at the moment.

I'm no fan of tilt-shift, but I think it's pretty neat how everything starts to look like toys.
Been in London for a week. Absolutely great city!

when you're faking tilt-shift, you need to keep in mind how the principle actually works. because you're tilting the focal plane itself and thus the depth of field, the beer bottle and sign post shouldn't be in focus.
you can't just apply a gradient blur to the top and bottom of the image and call it a day, because it doesn't look right. with this image it looks like you were trying to have the focal plane intersect the ground right under the wheels of the SUV, but because other things that shouldn't be in focus are, it throws off the effect.

Yeah, I know.. I couldn't find the proper one, so I put this one up. When I find it I'll post it.
Currently designing the headstone for the girl I mentioned in the OP. The family loves the pictures I took so much that they want one etched as the centerpiece on it.
I could never take another photo again and consider my career in photography a resounding personal success. :unsmith:

I'mma stop being emo and actually get back to contributing soon dag nabbit. I've been stuck in my office doing busywork most of this time, haven't done much with the camera to show off. Soon enough, though, I have much work to do and much lined up after that. Business is pickin' up.
Also Brian your prices are ridiculous, be happy you live in an area that's willing to pay so much for photoshoots :v:
My first picture with my first real camera (D3000)

crap, just realized that i shouldnt have had the candle straight in the middle
You don't always have to follow that.

You don't always have to follow the rule of thirds.
And by the way, thats not your first, it's your 6th picture. :buddy:
You don't always have to follow that.
yep, and the rule of thirds is essentially an approximation of the golden ratio anyway, so if you follow that instead of the rule of thirds you'll likely get better results
the rule of thirds is almost shit, so I hate it when people get the idea that they have to use it everywhere
can't really decide which is better. hmm.

I'd really really like a 1920x1080 sized version of this, I don't have trees like that around where I live :3
