Meh images. Was to some extent happy with the first one.

Too bad the highlights in the second were over-blown that much. You should have shot it under-exposed, then bring the details in foreground back with the fill light option

crap, just realized that i shouldnt have had the candle straight in the middle
look at it thinking about the rule of thirds. You did it right in a sense. I always say, learn the rule of thirds then break it without getting in trouble.
okay lets forget the rule for now, and focus on the picture. anything bad? anything good?
I love it, it's a good case of when to actually center a subject, and the light in general is really cool. I just wish you got a little more of the two objects in the background into the frame

Well I have some ideas on it. I think as it is, it's pretty good. There's nothing really wrong with it, but I think it would look better if the angle was different.
Here's an example of what I think would make it better.

The reason is, because the lines coming from the two candles (generated by the glass) can great some really interesting flow. If you had one of the candles in a corner of your frame, with the other one opposite of it, then the lines of light would create interesting movement in the shot. So you start at the bottom right with the closest candle and you follow the lines until you get to the second one.
My paint drawing isn't perfect, especially since I think it needs a lower angle on it with the flow being more in depth than horizontally.
Of course this is just my thought, it might not work at all.
Finally got my extension tubes.

Thank you and Dai.
Totaly see what you mean, would have taken more diffrent shots, but i didnt know it would turn out that cool.
How's this for an impulse shot?

Nothing effort-y about it. I just thought the lighting and everything turned out pretty good.
That photo is pretty awesome, Spetzaz. I love the lighting!
Here's one from when I went to Poland this summer:

I'll be selecting more to post in a few :)

For some reason all my images look blurry and really bad when I pull them out of my picasa. They looked a lot better when I was editing them...
White cotton candy? Huh. Never seen that before.
And images aren't that bad.

Haha yeah I guess that's just how we roll in Poland! :D
And thanks! Here's a few more:

What did you use to shoot this? Wide angle lens?
Nikon D40, f/4.8, 105mm [157mm 35mm equivalent](not wide angle, btw), ISO 650, 1/125sec, no flash.
Exif data, bro.

I feel like this photo I took has so much potential, but I can't seem to make it perfect. Any ideas what will help improve this shot?

What camera/lens are you using there? Shot looks amazingly clear even for a lo-res. Might also just be the focus, I dunno.

I love it with the green to white to blue in each third of the image. The only real problem upfront is that it is overexposed. Maybe tone it down a quarter of a stop.
Also it would be better if the tree was on the left-hand side as opposed to the right. Since the tree flows leftwards, if it was on the left it would flow into the middle of the frame making it more balanced.
I still really like it though.

5D mark II with a 24-105mm F/4 L IS.
I got one of my photos in Import Tuner Magazine  It's the one at the top

Awesome, congrats!
Also I really don't like the middle-right one. :raise:
My favorite is the middle left one, but Sabastian - yours is awesome too!
Ferosso, how did you afford that kit? Nice shots btw.
Content;
Messing around with 'cloning'. You can see where I fucked the lighting on the right edge of the center-most buddha, no do-over seeing as I took this minutes before the day was over for 63/365.

Split tones and PBR, call me a hipster.
What kit?
Your camera set up. Sounds expensive.
Oh, I don't have the 5D anymore, I sold it and bought a 5D MKII.
But I work fulltime, 38 hours a week. That's how I pay for my stuff.
I currently have:
Canon EOS 5DMKII
Canon 70-200L EF F/4.0 USM with circular polarizer
Canon 28mm F/2.8 EF
Canon 50mm F/1.4 EF USM
Canon Speedlite 430EX
A Manfrotto tripod
Noname wireless flash transmitter
But I've had the 70-200 for about 4 years now. I didn't buy it all at once.
