I take pictures quite seldom, but a friend asked me to take a few.
I really don't even dare to call myself amateur.

Right.
I know all of Norway doesn't look the same, you... something.
I've actually been to Lofoten, though I don't recognize any of the places.
I was just wondering where it was.

Doesn't mean he's artistic.
Particularly doesn't mean he's creative, as the title suggests you should be to post in this thread.
Sure the pictures LOOK good, but there is nothing really creative about them.
[editline]10:14PM[/editline]
By the looks of the post, it's just spam anyways. View large isn't even larger.
If he came in here to post that for one picture, the large picture would be larger.

It's a lot more creative than 90% of the stuff in the thread. It's an extensive themed shot pretty well set up.

Well, he is a professional artist who posts here regularly and promotes his work - you know, like what a photographer has to do.
He does fill these threads with quality and class.

congrats genius you just described half this thread
why choose to solely channel your rage toward mr. successful?

I have a feeling you looked at his post count and decided, judging by it, that it was 'spam'
He's been here longer than i have; and looking at the picture it is creative. You really just made some unnecessary comment, that has no constructive criticism or helpful advice. So please refrain from it in the future.

I'd like some 'first impressions' on this, I have a hard time being able to look at an image the same way after spending some time editing it.
To me, the shadow not extending to his arms (I hastily used two Pledge cans), and the way the leg is cut stand out as sloppy editing. you can also see a little lighting difference around his foot. - I asked family if they could see any obvious errors, and predictably they didn't notice until I pointed out.

The thing the looks most iffy to me is the shadow, apart from that i'd say it looks fine, unless you are thoroughly inspecting it. I like it bopie

and i would, but i just started Alevel! the amount of work set to do in personal time is destroying creativity and taking away my time to do anything :sigh:
Also, i was wondering if any of you have seen the 'who are you with nikon' competition on facebook? I've got two entries going at the moment. I obviously want to win, but i'm just making sure you guys know about it so you can get you're own entries in!

Thanks for the blackup. I used to do mapping, I used to do fast threads, I used to make threads and share the lulz on other accounts.. but nowadays most of you are just too cool for me so I post my random shot and if anyone asks a question I try to answer it.

I just post a link to my flickr from shows that I've been to on the event pages on facebook. I usually upload within 24 hours so I can beat all the pro's.
Also, no one will pay for pictures of themselves at a concert, that takes the fun out of it. Just do it for free, you'll be paid with attention, which should be more than enough. Oh yeah, if you upload to an album on facebook people will tag themselves in your shots and you'll get alot of exposure too.

Speaking of facebook photos, I found out they recently did an update to 'improve photography' on their site. They're allowing much larger images to be hosted.

They will still display at the facebook standard 604x604 max, but you will notice in the controls at the bottom-right corner of a photo's page a button labeled "Download in High Resolution"

I think it applies only to 'pages' and not personal profiles (due to not wanting to host billions of unnecessarily large pictures of drunken parties and such), but I think it will be handy for anyone who wants to host much larger, uncompressed photos in organized albums without having to pay for server space they wouldn't need like with other hosting sites.

re the second part there are company that do just what i said employ people to take pictures in clubs, when i have seen them in operation they have say a 1000d no speedflash a numpty using liveview and half the time not even using the pop up flash if they can make money with a half assed operation like that its a peace of piss if you have a camera with decent iso performance a speedflash or two and enough knowledge to operate the camera without using the basic modes
Also, some pictures of ducks, from testing out a new lens!

whoops, where's automerge D:
@Uber: I really like the color of the water, kinda magic.
automerge always broke after about 3 hours.
Latir,
You got some talent, no doubt about that, but it seems that you're always taking pictures of yourself, and in my opinion it gets kinda boring. You really should try to go outside with your camera.

we've talked a lot about that before, I think it's a bit of a challenge to keep his pictures interesting whilst still only using himself.
On top of that he has to make it work for 365 shots.
I have more freedom on what I'm shooting for my 365 project, and while I haven't missed a day, I find myself 'half-assing' it when I feel little motivation.
You can look at a person's 365 and say "boring", and look at someone who uploads 3 pictures a month and say "awesome". Doesn't mean the 365'er lacks creativity.
I'm rambling, but its analogous to expecting the news to be interesting every single day.

No doubt, you are correct, and i wouldn't expect you to know the reasons as to why i take a lot of self portraits of myself, as i haven't seen you around CC a lot?
To make a long story short, by the time i get home, the time is 6pm. I have a stack of alevel work to do, and pretty much have no time to get out my house. I have probably missed about 2 weeks of my 365 images, which i'll make up at the end, and that's pretty much from me sitting down and coming to the theory that a 365 isn't just for you to improve skill-wise. But also to help you realise that forcing yourself to take a new creative shot everyday becomes more of a chore than a 'way of improving'. It's kind of just to make sure you realise that you should take shots on the regular. I've seen so many 365s and most of them have some absolute gems in them; sometimes in a weeks period and sometimes, it's just random.
The reason i take a lot of self portraits is because:
- It's easy to work with myself
- It requires minimal prep (which i don't have time for)
- I enjoy taking self portraits, experimenting with it and seeing what i come up with.
Also bopie, i don't know what you're on about with you 'half-assing' your shots. In your 80 365 photos, you've showed much better results than i did in my first 80 days. i actually find some of your shots inspiring
Also 264/365 (don't worry it ain't a self-portrait, haha):
