Thanks!
No doubt, you are correct, and i wouldn't expect you to know the reasons as to why i take a lot of self portraits of myself, as i haven't seen you around CC a lot?
To make a long story short, by the time i get home, the time is 6pm. I have a stack of alevel work to do, and pretty much have no time to get out my house. I have probably missed about 2 weeks of my 365 images, which i'll make up at the end, and that's pretty much from me sitting down and coming to the theory that a 365 isn't just for you to improve skill-wise. But also to help you realise that forcing yourself to take a new creative shot everyday becomes more of a chore than a 'way of improving'. It's kind of just to make sure you realise that you should take shots on the regular. I've seen so many 365s and most of them have some absolute gems in them; sometimes in a weeks period and sometimes, it's just random.
The reason i take a lot of self portraits is because:
- It's easy to work with myself
- It requires minimal prep (which i don't have time for)
- I enjoy taking self portraits, experimenting with it and seeing what i come up with.
Also bopie, i don't know what you're on about with you 'half-assing' your shots. In your 80 365 photos, you've showed much better results than i did in my first 80 days. i actually find some of your shots inspiring
Also 264/365 (don't worry it ain't a self-portrait, haha):

This is a nice reply.

prepare for fun, for dry spells, for frustration, and ultimately accomplishment.

the DOOM pictures i got kinda suck (some dude in dublin posted better ones to flickr yesterday) but warehouse project doesnt let you get close to the stage and i was one row back in the audience so not ideal conditions, i also spent his entire set elbowing one girl in the face and feeling up the girl in front of me

Wow, haven't laughed as much as I just did for ages!

I really need to work on getting the large backdrop roll... or some muslin, or something. Next paycheck, I swear I'll have something that can accommodate more than just one person :argh:
but, for an on-the-spot "HEY can we do some pictures really quick?" thing I think it all went well. I was supposed to go out into chicago today with him and his dance crew (they're actually not that bad, I'll get video when we DO hit the streets) but they got called in by one of their sponsors to talk business.

what at the pictures or my comment? i should have left my 50 on it gives better pictures but i thought i would be able to secure a decent spot so was using the kit lens on the off chance i wanted any wider angle stuff
cropped that first one a bit more gives a slightly better image and is still a decent resolution, the second image i though looked intersting in lr but looking again most of the reflection on his mask is blur
I'm kinda wondering where he got that mask. I thought the groping thing was funny, though
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MF_Doom i imagine its custom made its part of his persona

ah, it's a custom remake of Doctor Doom's mask
He's even on one of their old albums, neat

I'd like some 'first impressions' on this, I have a hard time being able to look at an image the same way after spending some time editing it.
To me, the shadow not extending to his arms (I hastily used two Pledge cans), and the way the leg is cut stand out as sloppy editing. you can also see a little lighting difference around his foot. - I asked family if they could see any obvious errors, and predictably they didn't notice until I pointed out.
Fooled me until I looked for it. I really like it actually haha.

I really like this picture. It has a very Marla Singer-ish feel to it. Got any more?
Got any more?
Thanks haha. Check out my

Botched the shadows, but put too much time into it to give up. Lost the original effect/concept I had my head. Oh well it's a learning experience.

Ahhh, fall is finally rolling in. This should make things a little interesting outdoors for at least a little while. Way things go out here in Chicago though, it'll be like this for a week, then it'll snow five feet, then it'll be 70 degrees out the next day.

I think this is an amazing shot. The atmosphere and lighting really brings out the feeling of autumn. it would be perfect if the sky was a little less exposed.
love it
Dai, that picture made me wow.
Reminds me of some osng M83 made

it was overcast/foggy, minus the sun piercing through... not much I could do. :arghfist::frown:
It was one of those moments where I'm driving along, go "WHOAAAA", then pull a U-turn to get the shot because I didn't think of it for a few seconds, heh
How do I achieve this kinda look

Kinda washed out but eh I dunno what the word is

Do you mean an overexposed type of look?
overexpose. Either too long of a shutter speed or your flash setup is just too overpowered.
Usually happens by accident then people end up thinkin' it looks cool so they keep it

also the black levels seem a bit soft, so there's some tweaking you can do there.
Ill try to find a different photo I there is just something about it, not necessarily the overexposure.
Decided to try and take some macro shots using the "lens inversion" method, and here are some samples.

Taken with a Canon EOS 550D with the stock 18-55mm lens, and focusing was a bitch.
I made an extremely ghetto 'tele-extender', took a spray paint can, cut off the ends. took the body cap that came with the camera, and a lens-back-cap; cut out the backs, glued them to the can.
Sold my 500D yesterday, going to get a 5D2 in 5 hours. I'll post pics with it later, but it basically holds the lens out from the body for the same effect as the lens inversion.
Edit:

Over edited?
I think it looks good.
Lacking a definitive subject, but it's not over done or anything if that's what you're wondering.

Alright, Thanks. Also, I just noticed that there's a face on the wall if you look really close :v:

ah yes, the ghetto macro. works surprisingly well despite the vignetting and shallow depth of field.
