From what I recalled, the depth of field issue can be resolved by using an older lens where the aperture is set manually on the lens

Thirsty?
Also, You can't belive how much I regret tilting my camera, what a huge fucking mistake that was.

Why was it a mistake?

the only colors I see are orange and blue, and they're not particularly appealing merely for the sake of being two-toned, so yes
I like the composition and odd angle. It gives it a neat look.
also Monster woo

With this good feedback, I guess it wasn't a mistake after all. Thanks!
Certainly not perfect but it was my first polar panorama, "cough cough" I made them clouds look like that, completely intentional

If you make a mistake, claim it was intentional and rake in the compliments :smug:

I like it, but I think it would have been a better shot if the (rain gutter?) wasn't in there. The focus seemed to be on the windows, but my eyes were more focused on the gutter to the side.

I could crop it out, but I'm afraid the result won't be as good as I think it will be. It almost never is.
I kind of like the gutter myself :o
I gave the ol' ghetto macro lens trick another go. I stepp outside and the first thing I spot is a little blue crab spider, perched on top of my pool fence - looking directly at me.

I love the little ember legs and lighting in this photo.

Looks like you've got it down pretty well.
You're holding a reversed lens up to the lens you're using, correct?

yeah
I tried that lens inversion thing but I the lens I am using is a 35-70mm 2.4 inverted against my kit lens (18-55mm) I have them both zoomed in, but not really producing the results I want, probably because I am using the wrong lens, but its fun to take 720p video of it, once I get a true macro lens should have some sweet footage.

Another solution would be to use the DoF button and take the lens off (while holding the button).

Does this work with any 2 lenses? Or does the second one have to be a zoom lens?

Took this self portrait about 2 hours ago.
Straight of the camera.
Just thought that I should contribute something for once.

Took this one a while ago at the last Atlantis mission.

It works even better with smaller lenses, but yes it will work with any two lenses.
I took these a while back on a Kodak Point and Shoot, only just found them on it's old SD card.

They're unedited other than some resizing on Photoshop. I'd have used a better camera, but I'm a baguette.

I apologize for my previous, not so constructive, criticism, but anyways, I really like this one!
Fantastic lighting and I love how you get all the equipment in the shot as well, it's actually creative.
Though I still don't get why you include all the camera info.

I agree. I think it's really good.
I love seeing all the lighting equipment and backdrop - I think it's all placed really well in the frame.
Although, I understand completely why he includes the camera info. You can work out why the image looks the way it is - it's a photography thread after all - any information is helpful when trying to give a critique.
Also got some more pictures I took today.

A shame that the one with the duck on the very blue and still water got overexposed on his ass :<
Also automerge broken.
Nice pictures though.
