Decent pictures (If I do say so myself) with a stinky camera.

They look good and interesting but the composition is, to be frank, boring. Have a look at this.
I gave the ol' ghetto macro lens trick another go. I stepp outside and the first thing I spot is a little blue crab spider, perched on top of my pool fence - looking directly at me.

I love the little ember legs and lighting in this photo.

some tiny pearlescent beetle
it's extremely hard to keep still and get a good focus because the depth of field is so shallow and the camera + two lenses are pretty heavy.
A picture I took of a Japanese flag.

I need some help with my astrophotography, most of my pictures never turn out any good what so ever.
They usually turn into something like this http://dl.dropbox.com/u/11323379/DSC_1390.JPG

Looks like camera got shaken a tad, I'm completely new to all this so perhaps does your camera have an anti-shake mode? Also how long is the exposure, I know where I am if I let it go for anymore than 30 seconds the rotation of the earth causes me to have some pretty blurry stars.
High ISO (like 8400-12400 or whatever) and then crank up the luminance in lightroom for noise reduction, but thats just how I do it.
tripod
use time-delay (10 secs) so it doesn't shake
(not too long shutter time (++tens of minutes) so the stars won't move)
cover the eyepiece (on canons you get the rubbery thing in your strap, some nikons have a shutter)
never done astrophotography but those are just common sense tips that should get you good pictures
check the lighting after the shot, and take a new one if it turns out like that
[editline]18th October 2010[/editline]
and always all stabilization features off if using tripod

My dad n' brother walking in the wild. I really like the lighting in this one.
tips?

also mirror lock up as well
What difference does it make when you cover up the eyepiece?
What difference does it make when you cover up the eyepiece?
I've kinda wondered why it's really worth blocking the eyepiece if the mirror is up blocking it anyways
Took this self portrait about 2 hours ago.
Straight of the camera.
Just thought that I should contribute something for once.

I've just gone and handed a roll of film into Jessops for developing.
I think I've got some really great shots on it, but I'll have to wait until tomorrow to find out...

Rather yellow dog you got there :v:
Angoose, just a little CC: I'd make the split toning a little more subtle. Also the front paws being out of frame ruined it for me. I know theres not much you can do if you can't take the shot again, but I'd go back and fix the split toning being overdone.
It's still a great picture, and I'm sure your friend will like it.
Yeah that dog is just a tad yellow, I mean it looks great but maybe tone it down a bit?

Reveal your secrets to me.
if I remember right, Ferosso does multiple exposures (even if it's just one RAW edited), then photomerges using the pen tool to cut out the car via mask.
