attempt at faux film
Actually isn't that much. Just a big umbrella light in their face. The rest is post-production and a little luck.
Some pictures come out a little stale, but there's nothing a little MORE post-production can't fix. This one was blurry, but it totally looks like an outtake from your mom's high school yearbook.

That photo appeals so much to me. Your model looks cute, and her smile looks sincere/genuine, or whatever you say. I'm not that much into portrait photography, but it's an awesome photo in overall.
I take pride in getting that 'genuine' look out of people. It may take a whole ton of patience and fifty bagillion shots to capture it, but it's worth every second. I've gotten so many compliments on the photos I took of Lindsey (girl from OP who died this summer) that I really captured 'her', not just pictures, which the whole family agrees was a feat all its own; even her great-uncle(?), who's apparently an ex-photographer for playboy with a studio in Orlando said that and (allegedly) wanted to get a hold of me. No word after all these months, but I should probably ask her mom when she visits the office next; I'm working on the design for the grave marker so she'll be by soon enough.
:gbsmith:
daijitsu you're one of my photographic role modes
There's that moment where you break a person's insecurites, usually just from them getting used to having their picture taken. It's wonderful.
Yeah daijitsu you are a cool guy
if I were American I would totally hang out with you :)
Pff, I'm no role model, I'm just in a lot of odd situations that work for me somehow. Hell, bop, you're somethin' else with your photography knowledge and helpfulness. Be proud, that's all good stuff.
[editline]1:11[/editline]
I would hang out with you too, floating boobies, but first you need sleep. What time is it there, like 11:00?
uh right now it's 11:13 yeah. Haven't slept that much because I was busy editting my short movie ; )

Clever composition, but I've 'seen it before'. Utility pole + power lines, and a cloudy blue sky.
It was probably the best that I could get from my local area, everything is so boring that you have to use really good composition to make a photo that is interesting.

Your area is boring? try living in a flat country ; )
your telling me that Perth, Australia isn't flat!

Are you Danish? Lol
Are you Danish? Lol
Haha, I thought the exact same thing!
Try Dutch :(
yeah a lot of flat landscape in Denmark too :(
Try Dutch :(
Well, it probably sucks just as much to live in Denmark.
Here's a similar one to the last shot.
A little underexposed, but it's hard with the camera looking up with the light coming through. I didn't want to lose too much detail in the trees.
That's me on the right. Self timer of 10 seconds and ran up the hill.

Also, here's another, just sitting on my Uni campus' hill drinking wine and smoking joints.
I just carry my camera with me everywhere, very rarely do I go out specifically to take photographs.

Illinois is the same way, just flat. "The plains state" and all that.
Problem with living up by Chicago is that you can't escape the power lines if you look into the sky, they're everywhere. I always wished this shot didn't have them, but dammit the rest of the scene was as good as it was gonna get.

everywhere is shit if you live there
being new to a place just means you haven't seen the things there for the past decades, so it'll feel new and you want to take a picture

stop whining that you live in a flat and urbanized area where you can't take pictures, take urban pictures or take train and go to take pictures somewhere. (like I did with this picture)
3rd class ticket at 7am to some random shithole, get back 9pm, and you'll have taken more pictures you usually take in a month. And costs jack shit if your bus/train company gives decent student discounts.
you can get like 20 trips for the price of any crappy macro lens you will never take an interesting picture with anyways
A few of my shots that aren't portraits:

I like the ones running from the right into the horizon, but the ones at the top aren't great though.
Beautiful sky though.
Nice ones, Ferosso.
why does the land rover look so out of focus
