Good point.
i never used it but isnt that what a-dep mode is for?
Automatic depth of field. It tries to figure out how much to close the aperture to get 2 points inside the DoF.
I used about 5 stacked exposures.
Manual exposure, 8 sec, f/3.5, ISO 400
They did come out a bit overexposed though, could've probably used ISO 100 or 200.
How do you do stacked exposures? It sounds really cool...

For my Photo 1 class. I decided to go on a walk around town, and then it started pouring rain. Rather than packing up and going home I stayed, and it rained off and on, perfect for taking pictures. So when it starts to rain, don't pack up and go home worrying about your camera. Wait it out. Reposting because I'm an attention whore. This is what I've been doing over the last 12 months. -snip- That was rude of me. In short, re-posting your stuff around here won't get you much more attention, try joining some flickr groups.
working on a social advertisment for a school assignment, I am trying to change the issue of "modern communication" the angle I'm taking is that people need to be more aware of the risks involved and that they should be fully informed before posting drunk pictures of themselves of facebook. [editline]27th October 2010[/editline] man I love the 580EXII
good pictures but that text looks like it was done by a 4-year-old even bolding and adding shadowing/outlining adds a lot [editline]27th October 2010[/editline] and the upper picture would've been better if slightly more light towards the face. slightly.
the text makes sense, I will make those changes shortly, and the light was really hard to get right; I ended up using a piece of paper sticky taped onto the flash to try to diffuse it a bit.
How do you do stacked exposures? It sounds really cool...
It's really easy, Just load up all of the images into different layers in photoshop, and set all but the bottom to 'Lighten'. Lots of astrophotographers use it because it reduces noise so much.

For some weird reason, Imgur doesn't work on facepunch at the moment :saddowns:
How much is too much when it comes to tweaking photos in your opinions comrades?
How much is too much when it comes to tweaking photos in your opinions comrades?
do NOT: add vignette just make it grayscale so it's "more artistic" split tone without knowing what you're doing stick to the same exact composition with rule of thirds try HDR, at all.

Reason I asked is, I've been tweaking some of my photos to get a different feel from them, example: colder. original http://farm2.static.flickr.com/1138/5117695422_773d98cf5f_b.jpg apertured http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4004/5121449641_c1c3a5721e_b.jpg I don't want to change too much in my photos, as I don't really know what to change bar modify the feel if it doesn't quite come out right. What do you think of my example?
good, the point of editing as far as I see it is not to enhance or make crazy (usually), but to bring out the best 'natural' look for the photo. That cold edit is pretty awesome though. also split toning is 90% hipster editing. Bopie does good split tones, but most people fall short of anything worthwhile. Best way to explain is to see, just pay attention to the dominance of colors in this picture. Highlights get one dominance, shadows get an independant one. Usually a faint yellow-hi and bolder blue/green-low as far as I usually see.

I've seen that style plenty of times and I think it looks good but only if done right, not a style I want to aim for personally but thanks for the tip.
To be honest, the second one is too bright where the spider is.
Thanks for the comment! I didn't want to bloom the spider, and from my point of view he looks a bit darker but doesn't blend as well with the colder look.

anyone know how to nail these shots? I play with light a fair bit underground but I haven't been able to get the light beams to be this intense I did some playing with light beams by blowing cigarette smoke and got some hazy results, there could be a lot of airborn dust in the pic though. ideas?

I was under the impression that it was so I thought it was amazing but then my friend sitting next to me instantly thought it was photoshopped because it doesn't look real.

From what I recall that's a pretty straight-from-the-camera shot, plus a bunch of obvious level editing and such.
yeah it's not mine, just trying to work out how to get them light beams to stand out so much but i think i put it down to airborne dust in the end
