Hey FP. I was on a session with my friends Supra yesterday, I like the pic and all but I think the car could stand out more from the background. I've tried various ways of boosting the grey color of the Supra but I can't really make it look good. I don't like it when my pics looks edited (too much atleast). Any good tips? I tried contrast, selective coloring, highpass, highlights/shadows and some more stuff.
Some pics of North-Swedish nature. Skuleskogen national park, Ångermanland province, Sweden. No C&C for me? I could really use some pointers. :(
ijyt the orb photo looks amazing. The cloud one is nice too.
I wouldn't mind some C&C (They're nothing special, I know I'm not that great).
I like the subject in the first one but those waterdrops on your lens kill it for me. As a thumb it doesn't look bad. My suggestion regarding the first one is trying a black and white version to enhance the contrast between the darker stones and the brighter ocean. The second one I posted is interesting... what's that?
Thanks bud. I have two other shots of the posts in the water, without the water droplets splashing up, but I thought the droplets made it less static. :v: The second is is a plasma ball.
The problem I have with the water droplets is that they are excatly on the photo's focal point.
Hmm, I see what you mean. [editline]05:17PM[/editline] Welp, it's nothing a little editing can't fix.
Do you have a tutorial for that effect?
I know ijyt gave a tutorial, but here's what I did (in RAW editing) First off, you'll want to grayscale your picture. Simply enough, go to the HSL/Grayscale tab on the editor and check off the box- It'll automatically do some levels for you, feel free to tinker between those and the main panel for RAW editing to get the overall balance settled. Next, you'll want to get your sepia tint in. This color represents the color of old photo paper which has yellowed with age, giving it more of a vintage feel. If you're going for the "I'm still in the 30's and just took the picture" look (if you're a steampunk fanatic or Doc Brown), feel free to keep the tones very desaturated so the paper looks fresher, but still a little tinted. What we'll do here is go to the Split Toning panel and tinker with the colors. Highlights get the major yellow-orange tinge, whilst the Shadows you should lean more towards orange to add a little dark color to the black, to better simulate the ink as it ages Do it to about where you like it, there's no rules set in stone. After that, we're going to add some grain for a better old-film effect, since you probably took this picture with a high quality fancy camera. If you took it with your camera phone, it might be good where it is. Go to the Effects panel and simply tinker with the grain tool. A little advice, since old pictures were usually small, the grain should look moderately big. If you leave it really small/fine, it'll look like you just applied a bad filter, or it's really dusty. Another thing to do (which I didn't) would be to play with the vignetting tool, but don't go too heavy with it or it just looks bad. and... uh... tadaa? here's what came out of the settings I got screenshots of above.
So, uh, where exactly did you go to get a picture of a guy dressed as a Monarch Henchman.
Chicago, near O'Hare Airport. [editline]02:39PM[/editline] obviously

If you were going for a "lead up to the car" thought with the ground, a frog perspective would have done better. That's what i feel when i see the picture.

Way too much saturation on the first one, IMO.
Never done photography really, just though it looked cool. C&C if anyone is in the mood [editline]10:13PM[/editline] Oh its me cleaning the lens of my not-so-good camera before anyone asks
Never done photography really, just though it looked cool. C&C if anyone is in the mood [editline]10:13PM[/editline] Oh its me cleaning the lens of my not-so-good camera before anyone asks
don't bother cleaning that. you will probably have more fun playing football with it than taking pictures. Remove the border, it really doesn't add anything to you picture. Second, it's just not really good. There isn't really something the picture tries to show or tell us. Here's something you can think about; take a subject like, I don't know, a building and think about how you can make it different from other pictures. There is a difference between just taking a picture of something that looks cool, and telling something with your picture. For example, let's say there is this beautiful sunset with a nice orange/red glow and let's say you are on the beach. You could just take a picture of this nice sunset and call it a day, but you could also make it more interesting by adding subjects to your photo. Maybe there is a fisherman who's silhouette you could use or maybe there is a trail of footsteps in the sand going towards the sun which would draw your eyes along the trail to the sunset. Another thing to think about is where you want to put your focus on and thus where you want your horizon. This mostly applies to landscape photography though. Never put your horizon in the center of your image. If you have some amazing clouds and a somewhat less interesting landscape then put your horizon below the center your image. Vice versa if the landscape is beautiful and the clouds aren't that interesting, you put the horizon above the center of the image. Ok what the hell this doesn't even apply to your photo but maybe it will help you in further photography(and ofcourse others) I probably put too much effort in this post this late so ignore mistakes or other crap If you want more tips then pm me okkkk
Wow thanks for the detailed response It will probably help some else more than me though.
Wow thanks for the detailed response It will probably help some else more than me though.
yeah I know I was in a helping mood. It's pretty hard to give you any CC on your picture because it just isn't very good. It lacks a subject, feeling and a story. You don't need these factors all in one photograph obviously, but you should have atleast one of them. As a photographer, you try to provoke a certain feeling with people. When you see something interesting which makes you want to take a picture of it, you do this because it gives you a certain feeling. You want to show other people what you experienced when you took that picture. Ofcourse you shouldn't be worrying much about that if you just start, but it is something you will have to watch if you really like photography. I suggest talking a stroll to town and see what interesting things you find. If you see something interesting, try using other angles instead of shooting a picture dead on. Other angles are more interesting than just taking a picture of the front of a building. Oh and keep the rule of thirds in mind, if you don't know what it is then google it. hope I could help

I'll try to go out on the town tonight and get some pictures of 6th street (Austin's version of the Red light district, but with a little less hookers). I took apart my dad's 1970's Canon A1 to try and fix it, I did and it's working. One of the greatest film cameras from the 1970's that I've gotten to work with (worked with like 2 lol). Wish me luck, you might not get pictures until Wednesday, since I have to get them developed.
:siren::siren::siren::siren::siren::siren: Alright, this is completely random and out of the blue, but is ANYONE here from the Chicago area (driving distance/train rideable, at least) and free on the evening of the 26th? There's a FREE event going on where this big studio has a bunch of professional photographers, models, makeup artists and such getting together. You can go and be an understudy, take nice pictures for your portfolio, learn some techniques, see some boobs, and make contacts to further your career!
Take me there daijitsu ^___________________________________________^

A straight up sunshine shot is usually pretty bland though. It may look nice but it is nothing special. And i don't mean you have to be edgy but taking a picture of Haïti during the earthquake doesn't make the photo itself special, it's how you want to bring your shot and feelings to you audience
I know what you mean. I have a tendancy of making colours vibrant in my photos. I tried making it a bit "colder". comparison better?
Much better than the last one you did.
