Do you mind telling us how you did this shot? I'm assuming it's some glowsticks broken, then dropped?
sure :buddy: i took two glowsticks (green and purple) and cut them in half. Then i splattered it everywhere inside of a black ceramic bowl. the exposure was 5" i beleive.
thanks everyone for taking an interest in my photo
[editline]7th November 2010[/editline]
also the chunks of glass are from inside the glow stick. the anatomy of a glow stick is like this:
plastic-chemical 1-glass tube with chemical 2 in it- chemical 1- plastic.

If you put one of each primary colors into a toilet (red, blue, yellow) and flush, it makes a tye dye style pattern. I am going to try it sometime within the week just for kicks.

This is my friend, who at this point was really annoyed by me, cause instead of doing the homework we were supposed to, I ran all over the place taking pictures.

And last but not least, the obligatory fall themed picture.

Forgot I had this picture on my camera too.
Took a lot of pictures on that trip, but only a few came out alright.
Went to a indoor skate park today, brought my camera along. What do you guys think of these pictures, and are they any good?

Should I take some more?
Faster shutter speed would be nice.
Blur and noise everywhere! What camera do you use?
I used a 350D. It was hard because it was really dark, so I had to have a high ISO and slow shutter speed. The aperture was as low as possible but still getting decently lit shots was hard. I don't think the camera fares too well in low light situations.
Was handheld too.

Thanks!
- That was infact what i was focusing on in these shots.
Just got back from a Belly Dancing recital and this girl happens to be one of my brothers former room mates, and it just so happens that my room was once hers, funny how small of a world it is.
[img_thumb]http://fc07.deviantart.net/fs70/f/2010/311/0/b/bellydancer_by_billcronin-d32e53f.png[/img_thumb]
She was one of the best dancers there by far, she did an excellent job and I hope she likes this image as much as I do. With any luck this will really help me with pursuing my photography career.
Just pay a lot of attention to when you click the shutter.
Get used to the shutter lag and learn to predict your cameras delay - then you'll be able to take the whole scene in and click at the right moment.
:)
Firework photos.

My girlfriend and I.
Set this up and got my friend to press the shutter.
He changed the settings a little and came out massively underexposed.
But it's alright. I like it, maybe just because personal attachment.
That vignetting is from a lens cap that's too small for the lens - excuse me.

@Silvics: I love the IMG_7902 because of the heartform shape
@Pickwickian- Someone would probably call it a hipster photo. But I must say I love it! The vignette only adds to the picture even though it wasn't intentional, but a lot of people strongly dislikes them. Captures a great mood, could actually be a great album cover.
Here's another took on Sunday for the fireworks.
Straight off the camera again.
Drunk and stoned, but I'm happy with it.

Cheers mate!
It's actually probably in my most familiar setting.
My girlfriend and I both study Wildlife Conservation at University, so we love the outdoors.
I just happen to have my camera with me at most times.

Yeah, I was having quite a bit of trouble considering the stage lights were incredibly dim and the entire theater was black, so it was hard to get the exact moment. Some however I got really lucky with.

I've gotten cash offers from a lot of the girls at the show and want me back at their next recital in April, considering their last guy never gave them their images :argh:

I'm liking this, i would say the vignette was too much but as you said it was unintentional so meh. I like the poses in it. Pretty darn cool.
i think my 365 days maybe over.
I really like this image especially the color
I love the color too! It's the cross-processing and sometimes you nail it 100%, and sometimes it just doesn't work at all.
Glad you like it!
What's the best way to focus to infinity on a lens which has no infinite marking, on a pitch black sky?
This was taken at 300mm, it's invisible to the naked eye, so the only way I could focus was to guess.
[img_thumb]http://imgur.com/Dv6ij.jpg[/img_thumb]
I'd normally point at the moon and let auto-focus take over to find infinity, but I literally can't find the moon tonight :v:
What's the best way to focus to infinity on a lens which has no infinite marking
Most of the time infinity is just turning the focus ring all the way one direction (to the left?), its not like focus would jump around. It usually goes like this;

Also, what 300mm lens are you using that doesn't have focus markings?

Turning all the way to the left seems to focus past infinity, It's a few degrees off but I'm not sure by how much.
Also http://www.canon.co.uk/For_Home/Product_Finder/Cameras/EF_Lenses/Zoom_Lenses/EF_75300mm_f456III_USM/
Maybe once I find it I'll add a tiny mark so I can just switch straight to infinity.
I see. Try focusing on a cloud (or the moon when you can see it) and then marking the position.

brilliant
I like this one:

the half step that the guy on the right is taking ruins it for me, try cropping it like this:
