i think it kinda makes the picture, as otherwise it's just a guy reaching out with his arm
[editline]10th November 2010[/editline]
i'd crop a little less on the right, imho you shouldn't cut shoes/heads/etc. if you can leave some empty space - subjects flowing to the outside of the frame doesn't always look good.
The guy running is exactly why I like it.
There's another here:

Here's my first attempt at a miniature fake/tilt shift photo. I just took one of the dam photos I posted a week back, and edited it in Gimp. It was probably the best choice for the shot since it's nice and high up. I think for it to be more effective, I need to crop it down some to exclude the mountains, and maybe blur the picture a tad bit more to give the illusion of a macro shot:

I love this.

The lighting came out really well here, except for that one light above the bonnet, ruined it.

please look into how focal planes work before attempting to do fake tilt-shifts, the focal plane in yours is impossibly warped

I was trying to replicate this style of photography:

Like I said, it's the only picture in my collection that had a decent angle. Give me a break, it's the first time I've tried to replicate this type of image.
I don't see why'd you post if you don't want constructive criticism
Went boating this past weekend.

Made myself a $5 lightbox today. Don't mind the lame titles, they are the two second file names I never changed :v:

This is only my first week of having a camera, it's getting very close to winter so I'm not able to take many shots outside with the sun setting at around 5:30.
Like I said, it's the only picture in my collection that had a decent angle. Give me a break, it's the first time I've tried to replicate this type of image.
don't get me wrong dude, it's a good candidate, it's just not faked well. if you understand focal planes then you can fool anyone into not knowing whether it was taken with an actual tilt-shift lens.
most people are taught that you can just throw a gradient blur onto an image, but it doesn't produce a convincing effect, is all.
don't think I'm giving you shit
So I guess my phone was trying to be a photographer, because it took a picture in my pocket, and uploaded it to Flickr, all by itself!

i'd crop a bit less, the masterpiece is clearly restricted in that image
HDR Rape. I like it, dunno about you guys, thought I'd share it.

@mrcsb: Ah, I see where your coming from now. I guess I just took the comment the wrong way. I'll definitely have to research more into that type of photography....I think it's just fascinating!
Just picked up a camera this week from a friend who was selling it. Got a Nikon D60 with a 50mm f/1.8 lens for $300. Not bad if you ask me.
Anywho, a few pictures. None are postprocessed.

Borrowed a friend's zoom lens for the night and took pictures at the powderpuff football game at my school.

I was pretty much only there for my girlfriend who was playing and I snapped this shot of her. Again, not postprocessed, but I thought it was cute. Big chunky mouthguard and all.

Looks really grainy because I had the ISO up and forgot to switch it back :v: Looking forward to taking more pictures with it and learning. LOTS of learning.

please give me some criticism - these were all taken on a compact digital (Fujifilm F70 EXR). One night I just went out and took pictures - now I'm obsessed with night photography.

cc, please?
i think if you had a lower angle it could make the photo look beter, other than that I love the texture on the wood!

I like it. Is that part of an old wave breaker or pier or something?

Absolutely incredible.
Thanks!
That color object isolation thing is really getting old. It isn't that artistic, and half the time it doesn't really make sense. It really makes the picture effective half the time, and when usually the point of focus is something important.

My first attempt at HDR.
I would say it's a little overdone.

and a standard grass shot, for added measure:
