Local retard is charging $300 for this shit. I swear to god everyone who has posted in this thread is more competent than this poser. Perfect example of what not to do. I normally wouldn't bash someone for being bad, but when you charge $300 for shit 14 year old girls can puke out, its criminal.

Offer the same price (presented as a discount of a larger price so people think it's a good deal) and show exceedingly superior quality.

[editline]25th November 2010[/editline] Here's a shot I took of my father. I know it's small, but I don't have it uploaded anywhere. He's now using it for his publicity photo. If I get a new DSLR come Christmas, I'm thinking of doing a colour a month thing, where I only (or as much as possible) try to get a certain colour in my shots. Like orange for October or blue for November etc.

Do it for real and find the real orange colour! It all sounds like a good challenge ! Good luck!
I really hate when you're somewhere without your camera, and then you see the perfect shot.
Always carry your camera. If you can't take a DSLR, take a P&S, if you can't take that, phone camera.
Annoying to always have a bag with equipment in it with you

[editline]25th November 2010[/editline]
Annoying to always have a bag with equipment in it with you
Then prioritize. I usually always carry everything with me, but you can buy smaller bags that will fit DSLR plus a telephoto lens. Handy for when you are walking around and actually doing shit besides photography. Well I think it's just personal preference, because I hate having a bag with me, it doesn't give me the freedom to move that I want, and then I would always have to look after it. Maybe I won't care if I do it for a longer time.

Film doesn't make you care any more or less about photography, it just constraints you to 30 specific shots. I actually have a hard time agreeing with that ideology. With digital, it lets me try out so many different things with a single shot. Fast vs slow shutter speeds, open vs closed aperture, etc. Film makes you say, "ok I've got 30 shots so let's make sure what I get is good." And although it may seem that with film you value each shot much more (seeing as you only have 30 against the possible thousand you get with digital), but I find myself valuing all my shots anyway. Things I might not have taken the liberty to do with film can be done with digital, a simple candid shot as opposed to the set up shot. I've got a really nice backpack with a separate compartment at the bottom with space for my camera and two lenses. Or even a flask with some coffee or soup in for those winter days. You can get a better understanding of the processes behind which a photo is created.

Understanding the whole film process is pretty fucking cool. Actually developing your pictures is really fun too.
It sure is. I remember the first time I saw a photograph appear in the darkroom, appearing out of nowhere. A photograph that I had taken. The smells and the sounds of the chemicals. I was mesmerized and subsequently hooked.
when buying a bag it's good to have a bag that doesn't scream HEY GUYS I'VE GOT A FUCKING CAMERA HERE you can see a lowepro zillion miles away. I got a nice giotto messenger-bagish I use every day as a man-purse as it doesn't look anything like a camera bag, it has a internal bag for camera shit you can take out and carry separately too, very neat. And the "original price" was something around $120, and I got it for $15 on some super-sale, so not bad as I've been using it daily. Backpacks are annoying as you can't take the camera out and in easily, that's why I prefer bags.
I really like this one: [editline]26th November 2010[/editline] And this one:

My small one is just a smaller version of it so it looks like a small laptop bag.
when buying a bag it's good to have a bag that doesn't scream HEY GUYS I'VE GOT A FUCKING CAMERA HERE
Exactly what I've been saying! Plus they are a lot more expensive
dude the old Freo power station is pretty rad for photos, you should check it out if you haven't already
I would love to go there but I'm scares of the potential druggies / squatters inside the building. It's the kind of location I would only shoot in a small group. If you're in Perth though maybe one day we could meet up.
story time, theres this tip/waste disposal plant near my house that looks cool as fuck at night its all lit up and has loads of steam/smoke coming from it so i finally got around to going seeing what it looked like up close (it just got back so it was early and seriously cold) after taking a couple of pics from medium distance i walked down the approach road (still a public highway) to geta better angle when some dude came out of the gatehouse and gave it the usual "oy what are you taking pictures of", "why are you taking pictures" even asked my name and address after 10 minutes of telling him and his mate i was on public property and could do what the fuck i wanted (in relation to photography) i gave in and left next time i get a cock sucker like that giving me shit im going to tell them im taking pictures so al quada can blow there building up then call the police myself so they will tell them to piss off (i dont think the uk police are as bad as they used to be, at the very least they cant use section 44 any more)
