those pdf's with photography law should be in the op although i just stick to these 2 general rules
if im on public property i can take a picture as long as it doesnt infringe an individuals rights to privacy (example being i cant stand on a public road and take a picture of someone undressing through there window)
and
people in public especially in groups cant expect any privacy a good example of this is the fact most uk citys have cctv on every street/corner
children are also fair game but it obviously pays to show some discretion, you should expect some shit if you stand outside the local playschool in your trenchcoat filling up your 32GB card with pictures even if you are within you rights
Hey guys, I was just wondering if anyone could point ms in the right direction for good post tutorials. I've used Photoshop quite a bit in the past 2-4 years but I'm quite new to photography and inexperienced on that side of Photoshop. Even Lightroom too, if that's what is the better choice over ACR. I just want some good post techniques and basically want to know what I should be editing/changing to make a photo look great. And not to mention what I can do (tricks/extras).

Are you shooting in RAW or jpg?
If RAW then I'd generally go for Lightroom as long as you're not actually editing them as in photo manipulation.

I've always wondered, do people prefer edited photos or original photos?
[img_thumb]http://dl.dropbox.com/u/11323379/DSC_1164.JPG[/img_thumb]
Original
[img_thumb]http://dl.dropbox.com/u/11323379/DSC_11644.jpg[/img_thumb]
Edited
Here is one I took, I personally like the edited more, the original seems so dull.
nobody gives a flying turd about how the picture originally looked, apart from some hardcore pixel-peepers that should IMO be given a one-way-ticket to mars
the result at the end is all that really matters

but imo good editing is the kind that doesn't smack you to the face with HDR rape and then sodomize you with filters - the golden road is always in the middle

Personally I prefer the edited one. The ochres and the turquoise complement eachother well. Kind of reminds me of silent hill with the creepy shadows and the decay everywhere.

depth of field is a part of the composition in shots like that. its a slightly abstract concept, but the think of the area in focus as the subject. if you had focused over a slider to the left of 'ac', it would have shifted the composition to one that's not falling off the edge.
it looks great though im just being nit picky
that bokeh is sexy
f2.8 on a quality piece of sigma glass
something about this image, every time i see it in my collection it stands out

as with most photos, the flash has really killed it, the best way to use flash as to not aim it directly at the subject as that kills tone and leaves the image flat. Ideally you want to either aim your flash at the roof or diffuse it to take away the harshness. (if your just using a point and shoot turning the flash off may be your only option)
[img_thumb]http://img690.imageshack.us/img690/4566/sexyladyisadruguser1of1.th.jpg[/img_thumb]
I agree with some of what H4Z3Y has said, but i like the depth of field on this, and the lighting is actually quite soft so it doesn't actually ruin the picture. This feels to me like it would be ace for like club photographers
i cant remember exactly how i took it as i was drunk and a little high (but not as high as her) but i almost always bounce flash, my nissin flash has crappy ttl though at night or situations where im using a flash i use the camera in manual and control the flash power level manually as well so a shot like that where i have one shot its not always perfect
Latir,
You haven't posted a picture in a while..
- Got something to show us?(:

Okay. Thanks a lot. And no, they're not photomanipulations, just basically corrections.
And RAW, always. Unless I'm shooting something fastpaced in which my SD card cant keep up with the pace.

It's the nitpicky things that take a photograph to the next level, and in this case I agree.

I think if this part of the image should be sharper and more in focus.

Just my opinion. But I really like the photo though. Good job!

pretty much, and in your photography career you'll run into a lot of cocksuckers who bitch at people who do any editing and get really elitist about SOOC shots and whine like "omg then it's not even photography anymore, it's just editing", and ignore the fact that art is the end result and not the process
hell, ansel adams spent shitloads of work in the darkroom dodging and burning, I'm sure there were people who bitched at him in the day for "modifying reality" or some shit like that
just ignore them and their shitty photos
sometimes you might get carried away with editing though, just always compare the edited to the original side-by-side (lightroom lets you do this) before you publish, and you'll be able to mostly avoid that
God, I am so jealous of my phone, the picture that has most views on my Flickr, is the one my phone it took by itself :saddowns:
Mine is just some random snapshot of a hello kitty guitar... :saddowns:
mine is http://www.flickr.com/photos/cheesepuff/2406468228/ which i took with a shit video camera at 10pm and i got a request to be used on a news website
Is there any real point to a Flickr account or am I seriously missing something?

It's a good place to dump
It's easy to use, and you get people commenting your photos.

Atleast, if you post your photos in a lot of groups and/or have lots of contacts.
