[QUOTE=iWumbo;26438622]What is split toning by the way? I sort of have a basic understanding but how does one do so?[/QUOTE] editing in RAW on photoshop looks like this [img_thumb]http://gyazo.com/9a4236b98e8fdb706b1e65c87ef32e86.png[/img_thumb] this isn't my headphones
I did listen to you, and tried it a few times. I understand where you're getting the 'do it too much, it's a crutch' thing, but to be completely honest I see it differently. There's more to it then hitting B&W or viginette, I've been tuning the tones to the picture, not just using a preset or something. It's part of the art to me. It's a stylistic thing. Maybe I'll grow out of it, maybe I'll fine tune it. Dai, we may seem to have similar philosophies but i feel we have 'artistic differences'. What you're saying would apply better if this is what I did to all my shots: [img_thumb]http://img830.imageshack.us/img830/2812/21of1.jpg[/img_thumb] You just have to work on matching the tones to the individual images, and exposure/brightness plays a huge part in it.
I know you're better than to just preset-rape stuff, and your pictures always look great (not only because you tailor edits, but the shots are generally just great), I just want you to make up a general portfolio in styles foreign to you. Not to say move everything in your way of photography, but cover your bases and at least have something to show when you have to.
I see, that makes sense. I've said it before, but you really are one of my role models.
Maybe try making the split-toning a little more subtle?
Straight out of camera: [img_thumb]http://img526.imageshack.us/img526/7360/bnothing1of1.jpg[/img_thumb] Actually trying: [img_thumb]http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5084/5219647085_0cfbdca81d_z.jpg[/img_thumb] Obviously raped: [img_thumb]http://img830.imageshack.us/img830/2812/21of1.jpg[/img_thumb] I think I found a balance. I'm far from a good photographer, let alone post processor, but I brought out what I like about this image. [I'm getting sick of this picture haha]
Just starting out on photography, took a bunch of random pictures awhile ago and never bothered doing anything with them, just sat on my computer. But I'll post one of them I guess... [img_thumb]http://anyhub.net/file/11VZ-lincolntrail1.jpg[/img_thumb] Criticism is very much welcome....
This morning: [img_thumb]http://img403.imageshack.us/img403/5830/58761696.png[/img_thumb] Fuck power lines. If someone could edit them out, that would be nice. BTW, this is exactly 16:9, you can use it as a wallpaper.

There isn't really a great way to remove all of those small powerlines but I tried my best: [img_thumb]http://img687.imageshack.us/img687/2046/depowerliningattempt.jpg[/img_thumb]
It looks better with powerlines.
Laughed when I saw the file name.
[QUOTE=ijyt;26444661]It looks better with powerlines.[/QUOTE] Yeah in this case I don't mind them at all, but atleast he has an idea of how it would look without them
DoubleDD that is the best Christmas avatar to date. I've also noticed it has the same hat that I used. Then again so is everyone else (makes sense since it's one of the first results on google images).

My first attempt at a HDR photo not sure if it worked properly. [IMG]http://i16.photobucket.com/albums/b13/borisjake/testhdr.png[/IMG]
no as you'd need to see outside properly.
Aw, well it was snowing a lot.

[img_thumb]http://i16.photobucket.com/albums/b13/borisjake/testhdr.png[/img_thumb][/QUOTE] Well, you have blown out highlights on the monitors and window, so I'm gonna go with no. Edit: What exactly did you do?
'HDR', done properly or not, is severely detrimental to beginning digital photographers. Work on your exposure and compositional skills first.
[QUOTE=Uber|nooB;26453305]Well, you have blown out highlights on the monitors and window, so I'm gonna go with no. Edit: What exactly did you do?[/QUOTE] I took about 7 different exposures of the same place then used the automated tool on photoshop. I wasn't aiming for any special composition on this, but playing around with the technique. Oh also edit: [img]http://sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-ash2/hs495.ash2/76817_10150316704605456_581640455_16022110_1353765_n.jpg[/img][IMG]http://i16.photobucket.com/albums/b13/borisjake/better.jpg[/IMG] (taken on phone :C edited right) I went to Manchester on Wednesday and it snowed a ton, had to wait at this bridge for something like 10 mins for to drop :/, but I thought it looked cool.
borisjake, the point of HDR photography is to expose every part of your photo correctly. Your photo has blown-out highlights on the window and pc screens. The aim is to take one picture under-exposed to negate the over-blown hightlights, an over-exposed picture to get the dark and shadow parts properly exposed and one normally-exposed picture as a base.

Holy shit i just woke up in winter wonderland. For some reason I don't like winterphotos. They are usually just so white and boring. It takes more effort to make winterphotos interesting, atleast in my eyes.
