I think I'm getting better at the whole don't-make-the-contrast-and-saturation-ridiculously-high-on-every-photo thing.
I would love to take a picture with the snow, but it's all messed up now that random people have been walking in it. Hey guys. I really want to get into photography again so buying myself an SLR as a personal christmas present. Going second hand as I have no money. Can get an Olympus E420 kit just shy of £200 on eBay with a 14-42mm kit lens. I also have someone willing to sell me a used D40 with 12,000 shots, with all this stuff: 1 - D40 with strap and box 2 - Nikon 18-55mm (excellent condition) 3 - N/A Anymore 4 - Battery charger with 2 batteries(1 original Nikon) 5 - UV filter 6 - Polarizer 7 - Skylight 80B 8 - 4GB SDHC card 9 - Closeup and Macro lens kit (+4 and +10) 10 - Manual, CD, USB cable What do I go for??
tried to salvage an old photo from a 5yr old point and shoot, the original was completely white washed
That's fantastic. Where is it?
I've been looking at this thread most days and liking what I've seen, so I thought I'd start posting again. Here's some stuff from my trip to Paris, all film scanned in. All the borders are the actual negative sprockets. All C&C welcome

Yeah go for the D40. Gives you more room to expand, and you get a better deal.
And say I was to find £70 more to buy a new Sony A290 kit, would you still say go for the D40?
Don't get anything that's not Canon or Nikon. [Unless its a Leica or Hasselblad but I digress.] [[No offense to people that don't have Canons or Nikons]]
The 290 is a well specced camera, and I was going to get a 390 myself but decided to go for a big manufacturer. Why? More room to expand, more creative freedom.
Sounds fair. 12,000 actuations leaves room for another (model rated) 38,000 of my own, I will probably have sold the camera before then. The 70 I don't spend on a better camera leaves 70 to go towards a lens I suppose. Although I really would like 16:9 shooting.. I suppose I could just manually crop.
12,000 is good. Shutters can go at anytime though. I've heard of people reaching a million, while some only make it to 10k. The 50,000 rating is just the average time at which the test cameras failed. Basically, it gives you an idea of where your camera stands, but it's by no means an absolute number. It's a better idea to 'manually crop', no sense in needlessly cutting an image before you've decided you want to. That's like saying you want a car with a 'slow option', just drive slow like a normal person because you might need to speed up. (There's a thread for this discussion.) Content: Just a couple candids from my 365. not proud, not disappointed. Speaking of shutter counts I've just checked mine. 33k on my D90. I imagined it would be much more, but it's certainly not a bad thing. If anything this will make it easier for me to sell it in hopes of getting a D7000.
bopie i love your house's lighting and your little brothers obsession of blue paint. you guys look like you get along :buddy: im going to try some candids tomorrow.
bopie i love your house's lighting
Actually I've been bouncing a 580exii off the ceiling in most of my recent shots. The bottom picture was in my gf's house next to a window though. Candids are lots of fun once you get the people to relax.
33k on my D90. If anything this will make it easier for me to sell it in hopes of getting a D7000.
As bad as it sounds, it might be good idea to leave that number out. It would scare people into not buying because 33k sounds like a lot. If someone asks though, tell them. They probably know that 33k is less than a third of the way through. As long as you price it accordingly, its ethical. Example: when I bought my car, my girlfriend felt that it was a bad deal because it had 60k miles on it (which sounds like a lot to her), while my car-friend was jealous that I found the car he wanted with relative low mileage.

I expected hate, but i kept going. I also take pictures of my friends alot.
i want that flash :sigh:
I kinda wish I saved my money and just got a 430, my uncle has one and it pretty much looks the same as the 580 (the way i use it, just bouncing off the walls/ceiling), but it is nice to be able to really crank the power up outdoors at night for extra distance off camera. I did pretty much the same at thanksgiving too, they were more self conscious than annoyed.
