If your a fan of the series that movie makes you fangasm so hard
I've got to say, the entire movie was able to use the seriousness and maturity of Kyon's character to great effect.
It managed to keep a somber feel that a lot of people aren't able to do well, and kept you wondering.
This movie, if you're a fan or not, it's worth picking up.
Even if you haven't seen/read the series, look into the background and rent the movie.
It's that good.

It's not scary once you re-watch it. More like, slightly unsettling.
It balances a few different moods the whole time, and doesn't mess it up.
