Smartness didn't really do much. I can spell everything correctly and still be a douche nozzle. And instaban was equally ineffective. Do I see people saying to the bunkers ever since instaban was taken away? No, not at all. Instaban encouraged people to say banwords. We'd be a lot better off with out any ratings. Or maybe try only positive ones? The ratings now allow people to just disagree or call someone dumb rather than put the time and thought into a legitimate disagreement. Also, "late" is the worst rating ever conceived. If you find out some news and make a thread about it, but maybe it happened an hour or so ago, people will rate you late for it. As if anyone cares that you found out before someone else. Either way, ratings as they are now are the worst thing to happen to the forum.

Facepunch hasn't changed that much since 2006 for me....The only big changes were aesthetics, new mods, removal/additional features, and new users. We still have a balanced amount of smart users, and on the other end of that are the morons. But all in all, nothing has evolved much in the past couple years, aside from memes. Where it was once Shoop da Whoop or Pool's Closed, is now Cool Story Bro, etc...

I could enlarge your list by making 2 extra points.

I think the rating system helps posting quality go up. People have a weird fascination with little png pics under their posts so they try their best to be funnier, smarter, etc.

I used to lurk FP, until I saw a thread that made me want to join up, in late 2009, and even since then, in such a small amount of time, I've seen the quality of threads here in GD go down substantially. People like heavy artillery, and many 2010'ers seem to, well for lack of a better word [b][i]shitpost[/b][/i]. And many others don't bother to spell correctly, or write completely in lower case. Many others continually use smilies like: =) & XD, which pisses me off to no end. I wasn't here for this smartness or the stricter and instant bans but they sound like much better ideas!

Before I think when Facepunch was more 'serious', it wasn't as kid-friendly. Now the majority of users are 13-14 which is probably why the immaturity thing is like you said.

06 was the best year for FP.

I loved smartness. It reminded me to keep my English correct and clean, although it did have some flaws, it was pretty damn awesome.

I like the fact that you get a lot of information on facepunch because of the high quantity of threads about all topics, although a lot suck. But still it's nice to have a chat about few games. And ofcourse I'm teh goldz I can diss da tennas. Nigger.
