Can someone please explain the Smartness system to me? Also, what happened in the idiot culling of 06?

I think a modified smartness filter would be a boon. And adapt the instabans to pick up on fucking memes.. or fucking ANYTHING from 4chan. I guarantee you that we would see an improvement within days.

If it dropped below a certain level you were banned. There were also words that got you instantly banned.

Beeing realitivly new here, what was the Smartness-System? And what did it do? Did it automaticly report posters with bad spelling and grammar? But, i realy do see some kind of sense in the ratings. They are suppoused to stop posters from just posting "LOL" or "Late", but most people here just rate and then tell. Yeah. Also, A LOT good Threads get spammed with completly irrelevant sh!t, because the poster did not like the OP and/or his opinions. See the German Subsection, there were at least 10 Threads in Netherlandish, just to piss us off. Or see the whole "I joined the army" [sp]I salute you[/sp] Threads. I can almost garantuee, that half of the post will be "Mindless sheep" "dumb a**" and so on. Also excuse if i made mistakes, my English is not the best. Ignore the Smartness part, posted too late.

The smartness system seem to have been good. I would like to experience it some day. Sadly that will probably not happen.

Another problem FP has are these threads. Cry your heart out OP. Every think, not just forums, have major flaws. And besides, a forum is the meeting round for the exchange of public opinion. Arguments, if anything, are encouraged.

The smartness system: you'd start out with 5,000 smartness. If you made a post with all correct spelling. For every time you misspelled a word, you'd lose 26 points. If you said certain words, such as "the n word", or "also, cocks", you'd get instabanned.

I was expecting a ban me and the OP saying "OMG the mods r bad n bant happy n de peopel r stoopid!" But yeah, it has gone down in quality quite a bit, when I started browsing around in late '07 it was much better.

Never trust the folks on FP, I used to avoid certain games or music genres because a few people on FP said it sucks. But then I was all "Pff I must find my own opinions". Sometimes what they say sucks, sucks. Sometimes what they say sucks is the greatest shit ever. This applies to everything, actually. Not just FP.

The thing about ratings in the old facepunch was that it saved, so everyone could see how much you were disagreed with, it lead to some elite'ism but I think it is better that what facepunch is today
