As much as I want this to succeed, It won't without a LOT of money... We can't just design and build a rocket with maths, we'd need lots of rocket testing and stuff before we even
yes, but we can just design and build a rocket with math.
yes, but we can just design and build a rocket with math.
Let's not start this.
First we need to find a place where we can hide from authorities, like a lab 1km underground.
Why would we need to hide from authorities. Do you all have a criminal mentality?
If I wanted to go spend my money on something useless I'd go buy some DLC.
Why would exploring space be useless?
No one wants to admit it but humanity has not gone that extra step. One very specific man might be all that stands between humanity and the greatest step in our brief existence. We need a leader and surround him with the brightest, the toughest, the deadliest allies we can find. The team will have to be strong, their resolve unquestionable. We have to give everything, even if that means our lives.

Maybe if we showed ourselves as a dedicated team we can get some investors to toss money our way, although thats highly optimistic.

Exploring space isn't useless this entire "derp lets hav a facepunch rocket!" is useless.

No, it's fun.
Unfortunately, due to unforseen circumstances, budget has been cut by 99%. You now have to build a working space rocket on $1.50 and a bit of chewing gum.
Lets hope the Facepunch mission to mars goes better.
I'm a pilot, if you guys give me enough money I'll get you off this rock.
If this kicks off, I'm donating some money.
Dear macguyver,
Enclosed is 1.50 usd and some chewing gum, please build us a space exploration rocket.
best wishes,
Facepunch
P.S
We can complete the kessel run in 2.8 parsecs, even though they are a unit of distance and not time.
I love RDA.
I donated uranium.

Make a uranium ship! :v:
you copied my username.
I might be able to contribute, but only if we smack the facepunch logo on the nose of the rocket so all of space may know who we are and to get out of our way.
Might be able to smack the logo on the satellite, no point of putting it on the rocket though.
Why would it matter?
Just put it on both of them.
Do you already have your bachelors in AE?
Wait, what?
No, I intend to be starting college in a little over a year. However, I'm confused, would a (minimum) of 6 years not be enough to acquire a Master's, assuming 4 years for the bachelor's, and 2 additional for the master's? I sorely hope I am not mistaken...

I would be genuinely surprised if you could earn both in a 6 year period. I attend Embry Riddle and most AE students are fortunate if they finish their Bachelors in 4 years. 4 and a 1/2 to 5 years is more common. Looks like a Masters in AE here is 30 credit hours, or about 2 full-time semesters. I suppose it is possible. Just keep in mind the expense involved; earning experience working will be worth more in the short-term than the masters which can be earned later.
I'm laughing pretty hard right now.
I take it you're looking at kerosene-hydrogen peroxide engines.

Why not get a weather balloon with a video camera on it. The balloon could have a facepunch logo :v:
I'm an aspiring aerospace engineer.
I'll work for this great cause sometime in my future.
I don't think you would make a lift off, or a shuttle or a rocket.
Sorry man :smithicide:

That would actually probably be the only feasible project a community such as Facepunch could achieve. I was thinking of doing that as my last year high school project. But it required quite a lot of work and approval by some administrations (correct word?). And also a good position to start on, which I find that Stockholm isn't.
I can do shit posting propulsion if you require it.
Right well I've done some calculations and if launching from my pre-designated launch site in Florida, I predict our trajectory should have an initial angle of 0.0002 degrees to compensate for the Earths magnetic flux field and the butterflies in Japan. We will also need 20,000,000,000 tonnes of kerosene for the initial launch phase, and a mere 5,000,000 tonnes of kerosene for each following phase.
Once in orbit, we will have to take into account the rotation of the Earth and the gravitational force of the Moon and Pluto, and thus we will need to add 4,000 tonnes of kerosene for correctional jets on the side of our shuttle. Using this much fuel, however, is likely to have a gravitational effect so large it may move the Earth by a few meters or so, but no one will notice.
