yup, Cacti are a little heavier.
So, Solid Fuel or Liquid fuel? What do you guys think I should use?
Hydrogen.
You do realize thats extremely expensive right?
That's the joke....
You aren't funny.
I think it's funny that the OP still believes he can send something to space.
I think it's funny you can't read.
I think it's funny you can't read.
So do you think you can send something to space or not?
I clearly said a mile up, and thats not space.
I clearly said a mile up, and thats not space.
So judging from the first post you want to eventually send something to space which brings me back to my first point.
Eventually, if I do end up pursuing a career in engineering like I plan.
So judging from the first post you want to eventually send something to space which brings me back to my first point.
Baby steps man, baby steps!! You can't just go and blow your load all on the first day, you've got to ease into it gradually. It's not like you have a burger just because you have the buns. If that makes sense.
Gah! Progress halted, I will buy more epoxy tomorrow and continue work on the engine.
OH I KNOW. Liquid oxygen.
I plan to test my engine sometime this weekend or maybe next week. [editline]14th April 2011[/editline] Gonna take video of it too.
Bumping this again and I don't know why. However a progress on a larger rocket has begun. I built a 2 ft one and the engine and I am upscaling that to a 6 ft rocket using a sugar propellant. This is a good way to fire amateur rockets, although the burn speed isn't long enough to launch anything into space.
If it -doesn't- happen to explode on the pad, use it to drop miniature bombs into NK and start World War III.
Now that we have Kerbal Space Program, we can test rockets in a realistic environment without having to spend money on the testing!

Hoping to have some pictures of the body by the end of this month. The engine is a challenge to make and requires a lot of time and patience.
Okay let's buy a rocket, tape a camera on it, done. FP in Space.
I love how big is the support list.
I'm probably just gonna snip everything int he OP this weekend and post pictures of it as well as a new post or something
I don't think real space programs use crappy Microsoft Word grade effects on the header of every section.
Bomber, make a new thread.
It would be cool if Facepunch actually could send shit into space. Sadly, however, it's extremely unlikely that anything of the such will happen. I still like my cactus idea. And blowing up the moon and replacing it with a Facepunch logo.
So umm. If the engine is built to the exact size that its supposed to be, which is 2.5 ft with a diameter of 6 inches. It should hold 70 pounds of propellant. Keep in mind thats a very long burn and can possibly go very high.
"The payload is nearing the checkpoint!" Is what shall be said if this works.
So good news. Theres a sugar mill nearby that will sell me sugar in bulk for cheap. I now need to find a place that will sell me a KNO3 fertilizer so I can ground and tumble it to make a purer version of it.
