Myth Busters.
I was so hyped up for America: the Story of us then when it aired I was utterly disappointed

Went down hill when they canceled Mail Call
History Channel and Discovery Channel are both full of stupidity now. I used to love History Channel for actual history, but that barely happens any more. Discovery Channel has a lot of shows that are just barely watchable, besides a few like Mythbusters. As many others have said, when I want real history any more I watch the Military Channel. Sure it's more warfare centric, but they have a lot of great shows about battles throughout history and the like.
The military and science channels are the last hope we have for educational television.
These days they just make the most stupid programming imaginable. They seriously aired this: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hitler_and_the_Occult

The documentary was originally shown on television and subsequently released on DVD on February 8, 2000
I wouldn't say that the shows are bad, but certainly unfitting. It's the History Channel. Make it about history. Yeah, Pawn Stars is a cool show. But not enough history to be on that channel. Ice Road Truckers? My father enjoys the show, but unless they give tid-bits of big-rig history, put it on another station.
Military Channel... 20th Century Battlefields.
Military Channel... 20th Century Battlefields.
Best show ever.
Can't forget the 9/11 and 2012 marathons. Gotta love all those conspiracies and pseudoscience.
They need a channel to put all these reality shows and not mtv
Best show ever.
I loved how they reviewed WW1. I felt a slightly more educated, and gained a little more respect for UK, France, and Canada.
American Pickers is probably the most history-centric show that airs daily. Sometimes they show The Universe which is a really good show. The only channels I watch anymore are Discovery and Nick at Nite. What's Oasis?
Try to catch the history channel on weekends around the buttcrack of dawn, they usually have some good ol' fashioned history stuff on. For a while they had a series about WW1 airing.

I want history, not the ramblings of a drugged up medieval Frenchman.
I stopped liking the History channel after Mail Call got canceled. The Military channel is great for the stuff you are talking about though.
I really like the UFO Hunters show. It has 'real' experts who use advanced technology and high quality tin-foil caps to research about the subject.
I loved how they reviewed WW1. I felt a slightly more educated, and gained a little more respect for UK, France, and Canada.
Never seen the episode where they did WW1. Have to get around to watching that.
Ounce the dog whisperer was once on for 48 hours straight why god why, also how the hell is the dog whisperer history.
Anyone seen world war 2 lost films? Only great history channel production.
I can't watch Discovery or History anymore, I just leave it on Science or the Military channel.
I don't get Science or Military Channel.
Discovery and Science channel have a lot of the same shows.
I watch a mix of NatGeo, Discovery and Documentary. Sometimes History will have something I'm interested in, but usually not.
Ounce the dog whisperer was once on for 48 hours straight why god why, also how the hell is the dog whisperer history.
You sure it wasn't National Geographic? Also, add me onto the list of people who love 20th Century Battlefields.
I agree with this, there is still some good shows like The Universe,Modern Marvels,World War II lost films and don't forget Lock N Load with R Lee Ermey
Discovery and Science channel have a lot of the same shows.
Where I live the Science channel is called "Discovery Science" [editline]09:51AM[/editline] Also, this thread is in the wrong forum
