You know, i wonder if someone has been following this for 28 years? I'm just surprised no one has taken a trip to just find out what it is.
It's them crazy russians and their crazy secrets
The theories in this thread have evolved quite a bit
Everything from nuclear war to a social experiment
So is it beeping again or is it still static?
Main feed: static
USB feed: faint buzz
[editline]03:07PM[/editline]
for me though.
I'm in Australia and the main feed is a beeping tone every 1.5-2 seconds and it's quite clear, I can also hear a lot of tapping noises in the background but they might just be static buildups that make a crack sound like on an old vinyl record.
Well if you think they've been fucking with us for 28 years in a row then okay.
And apart from that also using the resources for running it. If I'm right, they use a 10kw transmitter.
I just heard a slap.
Like
On the ass.
Sounds like someone is moving around with the buzzer. Has it always been like that? Never listened to it before.
Guess it always has been like that.
Someone is watching the African football championship with chipped speakers
Lots of static, damn weather interference.
Lots of static, damn weather interference.
Ah, I hadn't considered enviromental disturbances as the cause of the fading and inteference

That a live feed?
That a live feed?
Confirmed. I have the direct stream playing (waveform only) and they're out of synch by maybe a few seconds.

Few seconds is fine with me, as long as I'm not listening to a recording.
This secret has to be exposed soon. I mean there is way to much publicity. God the unknown really fucks your brain.

I bet it's a very loooooong social experiment :v:
I think this is just one long social experiment, or this is trying to get kids to not do their homework or study. It's working well...
Or maybe just one long rickroll.
The last thing ever broad casted by that station will be that song.

Just realised my feed was down for a while ! sorry for anyone that tried to get on.
I used an EQ to make the honking quieter and the Morse code louder: http://www.box.net/shared/8y7i2cdryn
Can someone decipher it now?
Thanks for that. It makes the call sign readable.
It starts off with the Russian call sign RGT77. This call sign is repeated then it goes into a short message. Most of it is unreadable, but appears to be a combination of letters and figures. Some Russian barred letters such as barred A can be heard. At the end of the first transmission of the message the following is sent. 'RPT' RPT means Repeat in International Morse Code. The message is then sent one more time.
Do an internet search on RGT77. It appears on a number of Russian military broadcast frequencies and is one of the more active ones from the Russian General Staff.
The only problem is that the buzzer is still active over the frequency. When the Voice is activated on UVB-76 the buzzer stops in order for the message to be heard. The buzzer then starts again to keep the frequency open. This does not happen on the Morse transmissions.
You can hear the same on the Morse broadcast from June 2010. The buzzer doesn't stop.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9mH77Wu0_eY
In the above broadcast the call sign used is RATD99. The message sent is a 30 group message of five figure blocks. The broadcast sends the call sign at the beginning and end. The beginning starts with FOR RATD99. Most of the message is unreadable due to the buzzer.
It would appear to me to be actually off frequency. The other theory is that it is being picked up and broadcast via UVB-76 in an open mike theory. Just the same as with voices being heard in the background.
For me if it was an actual UVB-76 Morse broadcast then it would follow the same procedure as the voice transmissions with the buzzer being interrupted and re-commencing afterwards.
I've been listening most of the daytime (UK) and I've not heard the Morse at all. Just logged back on (1700 UCT) and there it is... loud as day.
Morse code.
Gah the stream isnt up

Oi? What just happened? What'd I miss?
500th post. Yay.
I have a semi cleaned up copy of the Morse code you provided. Still working over it to see if I can decipher it. I'm using a Spectrum Analyzer.
http://filesmelt.com/dl/morse_code.mp3
Listening to that it is clear that the actual Morse frequency is not 4625 khz. If it was tuned in correctly and set on CW it would be up around 4627 khz or possibly down at 4623 khz. Logic states that for clear command and control that the buzzer would cease as in the voice messages. It appears to me to be an adjacent broadcast but still linked into the Russian and Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) command and control structure. Other Morse call sign used back in June was RATD77.
I was thinking that 2
