Not sure but if thus UVB-76 thing is using a microphone, there is certainly someone in the broadcast building there.
Nothing just static. Think I heard a little something. I randomly hear moans, but probably because it sounds like rain and reminds me of resident evil *SHUDDERS* Edit Moans seem to be the honk behind the static?
hey, other than iTunes, what other program can we use to listen to the live feed?
I use WMP.
great high pitch beep.
Any plugins needed? The streams always crash WMP for me, so I'm stuck with iTunes
Any plugins needed? The streams always crash WMP for me, so I'm stuck with iTunes
I think you better stick to I tunes, it sounds clearer but i cant find equalizer on I tunes. gonna try with adobe audition. nevermind, it fails.
Don't think so. I just pressed USB Feed on the blog, opened it in WMP and it works fine.

ahh, thanks. [editline]08:38AM[/editline] filtered out the statics, those moans are the honks alright. [editline]08:52AM[/editline] hey guys, how can I record the thing I'm hearing now?
How do you get rid of the static in vlc.
How do you get rid of the static in vlc.
not sure about VLC but I just played with the equalizer abit and it worked. Don't ask me how though, I changed it back to flat. Maybe there's a software for filtering it out?
Uh ok.

whoa. this is some serious high tech political voodoo that's being slung around here. another case for the internet detectives instead of government officials!
Oh god hold me i hear DEMONIC moaning in the mic
Oh god hold me i hear DEMONIC moaning in the mic
:sympathy:
Why isnt your stream up also thx lol. [editline]06:14PM[/editline] UVB-76 HAS GHOSTS MAN caps.
Just heard a beep. and a couple of taps.
UVB-76 can't be anything top secret and/or military related because it is a public station. /thread
please explain how you make a shortwave broadcast 'private'
While there's a massive load of exaggeration in this thread, there's nothing wrong with it being public since it's to be decrypted with a one time pad (assuming it's a numbers station) and thus is practically impossible to decrypt unless you have the key. So who cares if the public can listen in?
It's not the public that would be listening in. If we know of it, the government certainly does too. There are government code breakers who spent years at MIT. Since the station is still up, the government doesn't care. Must mean this is just bullshit and is a waste of time. Of course I may be wrong, and I'm not saying listening in is pointless. I think it is incredibly interesting, many of these stations are. I'm just saying don't make a big deal out of it. Its probably nothing...
Are you guys hearing the sound that sounds like someone blowing a metal pipe?
i was
Static.
^
^ [editline]07:00PM[/editline] OH SHIT I HEARD a SCRATCH
Are you guys listening on AM or Usb?
Alright, from what i said earlier i asked my step dad(mit graduate, worked with military radio and government radios for like 13 years after graduating, and now works on prototype military missiles/bombs) And he knew instantly before i even said the station, i was like, hey you know that radio station, and he instantly was like "Yeah UVB-76" Because he knows whats been going on recently. What he said is that the most realistic answer to the recent activity is that it is Russian spies/moles use this for talking usually using secret code within the Morse code and words. He said it is owned by the Russian government and has been used liked this other times before, but not that many at all. Now why would they use a publicly open channel? I asked him. He said, Why not, you can either be blatant or subtle about it, its not like its a popular channel that most know about. Thats all i got from him.
Arghh, I got disconnected and cant connect again.
Now why would they use a publicly open channel? I asked him.
Well, the few times UVB-76 has featured anything other than static/noise, it's been vague, cryptic messages that could easily be maintenance tests. Other similar stations broadcast strings of numbers at regular intervals, which are thought to be decoded by foreign agents using a one-time pad, meaning only the agent with the key for that particular transmission will be able to know what it means. It's low-tech, but short wave radio can potentially be picked up over great distances and is potentially more secure than an email.
