So... it's just a russian broadcasting station that everyone wants to listen to?
It's my favorite constant buzz radio station.
[editline].[/editline]
My theory is that someone left their cellphone on vibrate next to a microphone and the telemarketers won't stop calling it.
Is it on? I'm not hearing anything.
[editline]25th September 2012[/editline]
Ah, there you are.
This kind of reminds me of this:

Especially if this was suppose to be part of the dead hand system, which I doubt.
Also, there seems to be something that could be Morse code in a much higher tone that gets drowned out during the buzzing. Morse code is not unheard of on this, but its been going on for some time.
I can hear alot of stuff now... sounds like a woman talking..... then a man. it sounds like normal radio..... is that supposed to be happening haha
EDIT: I'm definitely starting to think its just radio interference
I'm very sorry to bump this, but apparently, voices were heard on UVB-76 yesterday,

I can make out Mikhail and Dmitri.
Just thought you guys might be intrested
Are you sure your education in FPS russian is enough to reliably make out words and names?
I hear this high beeping morse code every once in a while.
Anyone have an idea what that's about?
I didn't feel like sleeping tonight anyway.

Nobody knows what it's for exactly. From what I gather, the main theory is that it's a facet of the Russian designed "MAD" system that is supposedly 100% automated. If there isn't consistent human interaction at key strategic locations through out Russia, the system is programmed to automate all missile silos and target key cities. It's just a rumor although a very plausible one, really. I wouldn't be surprised if we had something similar.

According to Wikipedia, morse code has been heard in the past few hours. I am currently searching for a recording.

[editline]29th September 2012[/editline]
but its never done right and led by an asshole
[editline]29th September 2012[/editline]
has anyone figured out what the hell it is yet?
I haven't heard about this in a long time.
Any new theories about it yet?
Anyone translate the morse code yet?
How hard can it be to get some sensors and triangulate it's position, seriously?
How hard can it be to get some sensors and triangulate it's position, seriously?
We know it's position, we just don't know why it's broadcasting.
Nobody's physically been there?
Well I saw the title then realised that the serious shit went down 2 years ago and was rather disappointed
Nobody's physically been there?
People have been there since it started up, but like mchapra said, we haven't the foggiest idea why it might be broadcasting and that seems to be what interests us.
People have been there since it started up, but like mchapra said, we haven't the foggiest idea why it might be broadcasting and that seems to be what interests us.
What did these people find?

Well I mean what did they find, can we not narrow it down to a specific enough area or is it fenced off? Even so has nobody been brave enough to sneak in? Surely with the amount of urbex people on the net SOMEONE nearby would be curious and would investigate.
This sort of thing really interests me and it confuses me how people havent found anything.

Judging from Google's extremely rough translation, it's just an abandoned facility and it's kind of a risky place due to water hazards and darkness? I'm not sure. They found a few microprocessors and other little bits of technology.
That's crazy weird but why would it still be transmitting.
Definitely heard something like someone replacing batteries on the USB feed. The upper side band of the uvb-76 broadcast is way more interesting.
[editline]29th September 2012[/editline]
I think someone picked up a phone too and then hung it up.
[editline]29th September 2012[/editline]
Seriously check out the USB feed, better than the buzzer.
That's crazy weird but why would it still be transmitting.
evidently it was important enough for whoever set it up to shield it from all the natural hazards that would have taken down other radio stations from that period. it's also possible that it's still being checked up on every few years by whoever set it up in the first place.
That's crazy weird but why would it still be transmitting.
My bet is that it's a military radio and the messages that pop up are, indeed, messages, but the buzzing is just a tone for identification and maintenance of the radio station.

Where do I find the USB feed?
