God damn it I hate this. WHAT EVER MOVIE THIS IS FROM, I HAVEN'T SEEN IT.
Quantum Physics forbids the knowldedge of the exact position and inertia of particles at the same time as space and inertia don't cummutate with each other.
e.g.
[x,p]!=epsilon(a,b,c)
^ what he said
This is getting tiresome.
You don't need to be a physicist to realise that teleportation cannot happen. I mean you can say "We don't know, maybe in the future people will look back at this as we do on the whole 'earth being flat' scenario."
But we do know, because of the sheer level of dificulty involved in the process. Sure, there was difficulty in landing on the moon, but its nothing compared to successfully transporting an object through space in an instant.
you can't say something is impossible because it's difficult
"difficult" implies that it is possible, just (hurf hurf) difficult to do
Mass can be converted to energy (ie fire) but it cannot be returned to it's previous form of mass.
if matter was converted into energy when you lit a match you would probably die
I don't think it will be impossible to teleport objects but to teleport living things or liquids etc will be impossible, because our mass is always changing, our shape internally is pretty much constantly changing so what if the machine gets data about us then we change ever so slightly, even our heart being contracted instead of being relaxed so when we get teleported, our heart is still contracted and we go into cardiac arrest?
Will never happen. Why?
Because it's completely impossible to record the exact position of an atom while it is moving.
And this is not because of technological limitations, it's a fundamental flaw in the nature of physics.
A copy and paste technique would be far less effective than a fold space-time technique
We already knew it was possible because animals could do it.
I've never seen anything teleport.
Have you ever seen another animal go to the moon?
But here is the difference.
Moon exists, teleportation does not.
That's your argument? You're a fucking idiot, pal.

get out thisispain
you're starting to look like a less assholish chrisnumbers bein' all smart and shit
goddamn cali' living liberals
pppfffft
all their science thigamatheories
get out thisispain
you're starting to look like a less assholish chrisnumbers
you get out first
you're starting to look like
like
you're starting to look like me because you tell people to get out
but then you start to also look like chrisnumbers
so by a weird twist
get out twice

get out three times because you're a LIBERAL.
get out three times because you're a LIBERAL.
that means you are a liberal too
so you have to get out
uhhh
six times i think
But what happens if someone else uses a teleport and the 2 "streams" accidentally cross?
Half-Life happens.
that means you are a liberal too

well you're up at 5:50 central so get out cause you go to facepunch at 5:50 central
get out three times because you're a LIBERAL.
liberals > conservatives. but politics sucks huge dicks anyway you look at it.
liberals > conservatives. but politics sucks huge dicks anyway you look at it.
you have something wrong with you if you couldn't tell I was being sarcastic
dirty liberal
well you're up at 5:50 central so get out cause you go to facepunch at 5:50 central
oh yeah well
wait what the fuck are you talking about
liberals > conservatives. but politics sucks huge dicks anyway you look at it.
that means you suck huge dicks
this is a logical statement
you have something wrong with you if you couldn't tell I was being sarcastic
dirty liberal
I knew you were being sarcastic. just throwing it out there, bro.
also, thanks thisispain. it means a lot.

liberals can't be logical they're all treehugging bunnyfucking butterflycuddlers
u guys r a meen :(
Well, scientists have already teleported stuff...
...albeit, the smallest particle they could find. Oh well, a step in the right direction, eh?
Your concepts do not describe teleportation. These methods only translate a human into atomic (or quantum) level data on a computer, transport it, and reconstruct at another location. This is just making copies no matter how you see it.
Real teleportation will involve quantum entanglement. There are books on it by experimental physicists. It involves the transmission of particles between each other (you need stuff on the other side to trade with).
Read Timeline by Michael Crichton
Has quite a bit of stuff on exactly what OP's talking about, with lots of sources and detail.
Well the whole book's not about it, but the rest of it is really good too :)
Well with my thread I made a while ago about having brains permanantly in containers linked up to humanoid drones they control, all one would have to do is change the link of the drone to a new one in another location. Thus, teleportation.
