Uh why do you think I drew them
to get better
one thing is drawing other is showing shit you know you absolutely fucked up bad.
try practising people you have never seen. Some find it easier to get them correct.

I don't think this makes sense.
Regardless, the stuff looks great TH89.

thats kinda the point of a sketchbook thread. you post everything so people can see your progress.
also th89 im not sure what your workflow now is, but one thing that helps me a lot with likenesses is to pick one feature of the face that is quite distinct or recogniseable and draw it, then draw the rest of the face and head relative to that, try not to do too much construction (although obviously keep it in mind)
Yeah, the helmets one was a straight-up observational contour drawing, with the left-hand face I didn't really try to block it out first, which was a mistake. The right-hand face I made an effort to sketch out some basic proportions first, which I think helped a lot
Holy fuck I wish I had your drawing ability
So, if we post some pictures in here, is there any chance you'll draw them? Like, "request" ish kind of stuff?
I've got some pretty adorable pictures that I think you could make adorabler.
Haha maybe if I like them.

I may in fact draw one of those cute and fluffy animals
But first: BUILDINGS

May I ask what do you prefer to draw with? like specific pens, pencils, artist markers?

this is great. i hate drawing buildings because i get so bored doing the repetitive lines
@TH89, I have never heard of Floyd and Barnes before. So, what was that illustration for? Was it an architectural drafting assignment or something? The only thing that is missing is the measurements. And, is that particular structure even real? Otherwise, it looks like you could of gotten a career in construction, sketching up buildings, if the economy did not collapse, because respectfully speaking, with all the requirements of repeating lines and windows over again, only someone with a strong wrist, could do the job as an architect, provided with the ability of estimating proper mathematical measurements.
Thanks! The assignment is called the "Metropolis Project" and it goes something like this:
Imagine the Daily Planet building in the city of Metropolis, where Superman works. Now imagine the building next door. It's appropriate to the 1950s era in which (original) Superman lives, and it looks nice and detailed enough to fit in without being unusual or striking enough to draw attention away from the Daily Planet building.
We did research on the type of buildings that were around in that decade and collected reference pictures, then did a series of sketches to design buildings. Once we had the design locked down we did model sheets like they one I posted, consisting of a front, side, and top view, plus a perspective shot. We uploaded them all to the class site as PDFs. In the coming weeks we're going to draw cinematic pen-and-inkwash images of the city we've created, arranging each other's buildings as we like, using the model sheets as reference.
There weren't any particular requirements re: accurate measurements or anything, except that the buildings had to be 8 or more stories.
TH89, if you want some advice on your faces, refer to your lovely buildings. Your buildings have very nice line weights and perspective, something you are not transferring to your faces.
Divide the human face into flat planes just like your buildings.
Apply line weights where thicker lines = things closer/things in front of other objects in the picture and thinner lines are further away or not protruding out. For example, generally unless the perspective of the face is forward or sideways, the nose will stick out. It will then obviously collide with the outline of the furthest cheek bone. This means the outline of the nose would start thinner at origin and get darker and wider towards the base where it then goes past the outer cheek outline. Currently your lines seem to be extremely pressed down on your human figures so faces look flat and I think it stems from your contour-ey style.
Thats just my two cents though.
I really do love your buildings.

They're very methodical.
Great building, I like the inconspicuous design of it and you got perspective down real good. For future building designs I suggest you can look up on of the 20th century most followed architectural mottoes: form follows function, which means the design of the building itself is based on its intended function or purpouse. Check this out to learn more: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Form_follows_function

Honestly, if he want to get better at drawing then of course he should post the "shit he knew he absolutely fucked up bad" so that he can get constructive criticism and feedback on it, thereby understanding what he did wrong and reflect on what he need to do to improve. How can one otherwise grow if one only shows the absolute best of what one is doing when one want to improve further beyond that? But yea not everyone is a critic or can be.

Snoop has an alien shaped head, just draw that.
So for a major project we had to do charcoal reversals, which is where you take a big piece of illustration board and rub charcoal into it until it's pitch black, then erase a picture out of it. We found old photos and had to reproduce them as accurately as possible. It was a huge project--I spent about 12 straight hours on it the day before it was due.

Unfortunately for some people they started later than they should have and ended up working into the dawn hours. We had a 10 minute break and at least half the class immediately went to sleep hahaha:
