That Accord has 40,000 more miles than my Ford sedan, but costs the same.
Yeah it would be a dd, i really dont want a honda though
You tend to pay more for Japanese cars, though. That Accord has 40,000 more miles than my Ford sedan, but costs the same.
It'll also run a lot better, longer.
looks nice http://baltimore.craigslist.org/cto/2149803506.html
That looks just like Blaster's 240, except lowered.
Problem: My car has made significant clicking noises when turning hard-right since I bought it. Now it makes the same noise on not-so-hard turns when turning right OR left. Doesn't happen when reversing. The car is not worth repairing if it's over $100 or $200 as the car only cost me $500. If I have to buy a new car, I'm looking for something under $3000 that's automatic around the Victoria/Vancouver area. I'm a student looking for good mileage, reliability and preferably something that looks nice. Any suggestions?
what about a 2002ish chevy impala with the police package?
what about a 2002ish chevy impala with the police package?
I did see a 2003 Impala ex-police cruiser. A 4 cylinder from the 21st century is what I'm being forced to buy, however I will look like a poor woman. The best options?
the fuck is a saloon car is that what british people call sedans?
4-door average car
In Europe, what determines how much insurance you pay on a car?
A 4 cylinder from the 21st century is what I'm being forced to buy, however I will look like a poor woman. The best options?
budget and location
In Europe, what determines how much insurance you pay on a car?
In the UK the cars are put into groups numbering from 1 to 20. 1 being the cheapest to insure and 20 the most expensive. This is one of the main factors that determines price. The second factor is where you live; postcodes are put in groups from A to F, A being lowest risk and F the highest risk, this is determined by car crime in the area and the like, the higher risk postcodes will cost you more to insure. The third major factor is your age, obviously as a younger driver you are less experienced and are more of a risk, hence paying more for your policy, car insurance doesn't drop to a reasonable rate until you're around 25. The last factor is your sex, statistically males are more likely to be involved in a crash than females, meaning we are deemed higher risk and again, costing more to insure. Even though women can't drive and should be paying a million times more than men. There are a load of other variables such as your job, motoring convictions, health problems, annual mileage and use of other cars which have an effect on the price too. Insurance is getting stupid, it's based entirely on statistics. For example, if you're a male and your index finger is longer than X cm then you are statistically more likely to be involved in an accident(A genuine statistic released by an insurance company in the UK which they were going to bring into effect before it was ruled out). If you are involved in a NON-FAULT accident you are satistically more likely to be involved in a second accident, higher risk, more expensive policies. The list goes on, unfortunatley insurance paints everyone with the same brush so you have to pay for other people's mistakes despite being a good driver. I'm not sure what it's like in the rest of Europe but if you're male, under 25 and a new driver then don't even bother trying to insure a car in the UK unless you have a couple of grand going spare.
I didn't know it was so involved like that. Crazy stuff.
Audi R8 110,000 dollars!

Something with a cheap insurance, that isn't a Golf or Skoda Was looking at a Seat Arosa 1,4 SE but the bastard selling it increased the price with $1000 :frown:
So, Hi, I don't come here often, but I'm looking for some car advice, and I figured this "What car should I buy" thread in the car subforum would be the right place to go. I got my G2 (second level of a 3-level licensing system in Ontario) in September, and it allows me to drive without supervision. Since then, I've been inevitably wanting a car. I've got 3 possibilities for a vehicle, and I was looking for some other people's opinions on these. The first thing I was thinking of was trying to buy my Grandfather's car from my aunt, who now owns it. It's a '95 Mercury Grand Marquis GS, like the one pictured below: This thing is a boat, for a car it's huge. It also has a 100L gas tank and a V8 engine, and apparently devours gas. Because it's old and big, insurance would be a bit annoying and expensive, but then again, it's always that way in Toronto. This option is on the table because this car has a lot of sentimental value, enough that I think it would be worth the extra cash. I was there when my grandparents bought this in January of 1996, I have a picture of us at the dealership. My aunt is buying a new car soon anyways, and I know that if I can't get it free, I can get it cheap. The next option is wait for my parents to get a new car, which they are talking of doing in a year-ish, and take over their old minivan, a 2003 Ford Windstar LX, like the one pictured below: I've heard this one would be cheaper on insurance, and is likely more fuel efficient that the Mercury. It has a 100L tank and a V6, and apparently gets great highway mileage, but I've drained a quarter tank in an hour of rush-hour traffic with it before. It would probably cost me nothing to acquire, but it's also not worth much. It's got a busted door and heater, the passenger door lock switch and window are both broken (my dad jammed the window in the up position because the motor slips and the window falls when you try to use it), the only thing working on that door is the handle. It also makes a loud noise when I open it, partially because I accidentally ran over a concrete slab with it, and it bent something. The heater in it still works, but only on full heat or full cool, anywhere in between it turns off. The car doesn't like me, and I really don't like parking it. That, and my parents don't think it'll last much longer, they think the transmission is going to die in another year or two, but they're not sure. The last option is my dad has a mechanic friend who could get me some old, cheap shitbox of a car from God-knows-where. This is likely the cheapest option, but also the one with the most variables. I could get a car that has a decent sound system, A/C, no weird smells, and lasts for a few years, or I could get a box-on-wheels with no A/C, a piece of shit stereo, used to be driven by a smoker, and that dies in a matter of weeks. I'm game for all three, but right now swaying most towards option one, for a number of sentimental and personal reasons. I want to know what you guys think, what option should I go for? No matter the choice, insurance prices range ridiculously from $1000/year to $6000/year, I've heard estimated from all over the place, so I'm prepared for the worst. I've got enough for a cheap car and at least a month's insurance and gas, and would be getting this car mostly to expand my job search area, to be able to work to pay for the car, and my education after I get done high school. What would you choose, Facepunch?
i feel bad for you grandpa car (literally) or a minivan thats like getting shot in the nuts or getting your dick chopped off
Yeah neither is the optimal choice but I guess you sometimes have to play with the cards you're dealt.
