Gary Neville has (finally) retired.
Also, Arsenal against Everton, and its 2-1. Not bad even without Nasri.
Being an Everton fan I'm not pleased. We played pretty well, but it's what I expected against Arsenal.
As for more on Everton I'm pretty pissed off with the board at the moment, well I have been since the end of last season, but the situation is not improving at all. We have no money. This transfer window we bought a bloody Greek academy player, and loaned 2 of our centre forwards until the end of the season. Why centre forwards? That's the last position would should be cutting down on.
Anyone else here pumped for Champions league and Europa league starting again this month!!! Can't wait to see how FC Copenhagen is gonna do against the giants Chelsea FC ! and i can't wait to the danish league starts up again.

Yea same here, we'll see if Arsenal gets eliminated again by Barca like last year, i think it ended 4-1 last season but ofcourse Wenger can change that bad memory to something good for now if he got the right strategy, but it'll be hard since Barca is burning through basically everything in their own league with Messi etc. Mes que un club hehe

I think Arsenal will have more confidence this time, pretty much being the closest title contenders in the Premier League. They might suffer in the first leg without Nasri though.
Yea more confidence should be one of the key points to overcome mighty barca.
To all those americans saying football is boring, check this resent match between man u and aston villa. Great to see Rooney back in shape too. This match shows how football can be played beautiful and elegant compared to your sport which is just a mashing forward fest through everything and ever.

That's what I love about La Liga, the fluidity and style of play.

Funny how everyone was suprised at Rooney getting 2 goals. Should be a real confidence booster for him
Imagine what could be done if the average money for a player transfer was instead given to a charity, scientific research or put into the government to help fix these deficits we've all got on our backs? This is why I hate football. That and the stereotypically thuggish nature of the fans.

I had this discussion with my dad actually, football has started becoming more of a business than a sport. For an example just look at Chelsea buying Torres, £50m...50 fucking million pounds. Then the wages are in the hundreds of thousands per week. It's crazy.
The main leagues have become too predictable, we all know the teams with more money are on average going to get more points each season. And it kind of ruins the game in a way. Many games aren't as fun now, because you already know which teams going to win, obviously there is exceptions, but as a whole the richer team win.
It would never make me hate football, I've always loved football and I always will, but it's making me enjoy it less. I've supported Everton since I can remember, and I'm really passionate about it, them winning or losing can make or break my weekend. And most of my relatives support Everton, so I've never really watched lower division pro football, apart from the odd highlights on TV when I'm bored. But even sunday league teams, people that play for nothing just their love of the game is great to watch, there's more passion. Same applies for most leagues until you get to the top leagues, where it is more money based.
I prefer watching the team I follow, and the bigger clubs because it's great watching the best players in the world. But still watching more passionate games are brilliant. Don't get me wrong many Premier League games are passionate. But fouls and stuff are given easier, I think it's more interesting when players are getting stuck in.
Also for the 'thuggish nature' football is generally a passionate game as I mentioned, so it's bound to be 'thuggish' to an extent, because people become very passionate about their teams. Although people that aren't don't seem to understand it.
Sorry for the long winded crazy rant, just felt like ranting about the 'current state' of football. It probably makes little sense and is jumbled up, but I felt like writing lots. :v:
Of which the sport was popular mainly in Europe and its colonies.
A perfect and actually good example of this is that in South Africa during the Apartheid, you would have two groups of people on the same street.
On one side of the street, you would have Europeans playing Rugby in a nice, well maintained field.
On the other side, there would be poor Africans who were playing soccer in a shitty field.

I see no strategy. Its all improvisation, but I will say that you have formations. I say this with respect to the fact that soccer is a mobile sport.
When it comes to American Football, you have hundreds of plays and strategies you have to use to counter your opponent. While you may know soccer, I know football well.
It's obvious you have absolutely no idea what you are talking about when it comes to soccer. Stating that there are only formations and no strategies is absurd. Give me any two teams on the planet and I will immediately be able to tell you what their main philosophy is the philosophy of the coach and strategies they utilize just by watching 1 game.
Now football is basically taking out all the free play in soccer and making it only corner kicks and free kicks. Football has its plays but thats what it's limited to. Because of the lack of free play you can never be as flexible in american football as you can be in soccer when it comes to strategy/philosophy of playing the game. American football is who can think of a great play and thats it. It's an unbelievably static game which in reality does not require that much thinking to create a play.
edited, pardon me i'm in the wrong thread
Oh wait.
You mean soccer.
I love soccer :3:
El Hadj Diouf was getting a lot of stick from the traveling fans last night.
I don't know what that means.
But its still easy. Passing is very easy. Getting through opponents is tough. Shooting is easy. Getting through the goalie is tough.
You've never played football at any sort of competitive level if you think Football is easy.
I can guarantee if you come over to England and play against a couple of 13 year old kids they will school you and your opinion of a "piss easy" sport will change vastly.
Alan Irvine as just been sacked a few hours ago, It had to happen really, Sheffield Wednesday's season as been terrible under him and we need to push forwards from here on out to gain promotion from this league, I'm just afraid it might be too late.
Do you guys only support your own city's club? Or others?
American Footballs is more enjoyable to watch in my opinion; HOWEVER, European football is more enjoyable to play.
Do you guys only support your own city's club? Or others?
Sunderland, wasn't born in Sunderland but I am from the North East.
Better than being a United fan from London.
half of this thread is arguing from people who have no idea about the sport lol
I can't believe people would even bother arguing. They're completely different sports and have no similar elements except the fact that they both use a ball.
Ha, and not bad for Liverpool, even without Torres. Win against Stoke. You know, its sad that Notts is the oldest club, yet it isn't popular.

Sheffield FC are the oldest club, but they aren't popular. Notts County are the oldest LEAGUE team.

Oh, I see, sorry.
Do you guys only support your own city's club? Or others?
Support Everton, it's one of my local teams. Apart from that I don't support any others, although I have teams I'd like to seeing winning. And obviously I support England.
I support Rangers, but I'm from Stirling and go to watch Stirling Albion when Rangers are away.
Today I got home from school and one of my local sports channels was showing an English Premier League game between Blackpool and Manchester United.
I accidentally fell asleep just after half time because I was really tired but Blackpool was leading 2-0 and I felt like I was a part of something :unsmith:
Do you guys only support your own city's club? Or others?
A lot of people will support their own cities club yeah but you get the occasional glory fan who will support a team just because they want success.

Then United came back to win 3-2.
:saddowns:
Heh, I got an American friend that say's "Soccer is gay".
I don't like either ones. I just call them both "Football".
Football is fucking boring to watch. I rather watch American football or rugby.
