• How are tobacco companies still in business?

I always wondered why it's legal to put addictive substances like nicotine in cigarettes. Does it make it legal to put nicotine in food in restaurants just to get customers to come back, even if the food tastes like shit.
As good as it sounds, e-cigs don't sound very appealing to me (I have yet to see somebody who actually uses it). Dropping the amount of smokes per day already was hard and I have become more of a casual smoker. One reason I dropped it is because of course it's good for my health and the other reason because of the money. Now it's more or less because I like smoking one, not really because I'm stressed or of any emotion I feel that can be healed by smoking. I wouldn't call it addiction anymore since I haven't had the feeling I need one if I didn't smoke for a day or more.
I use them when I'm in otherwise smoke free areas, my buddy henry uses them almost exclusively [editline]30th August 2013[/editline]
I always wondered why it's legal to put addictive substances like nicotine in cigarettes. Because Swedish snus is the best shit ever.
Seriously, switch to e-cigs. The initial investment will easily be balanced out within a few weeks of not buying cigarettes.
I did at one point. I even managed to kick it for a little bit, ut then seeing your friends smoking, and then going out for a drink and/or blaze and it all fucks up again. Not blaming anything I just have low will power.
99% safe
[citation needed] [editline]30th August 2013[/editline]
Because Swedish snus is the best shit ever.
That shit made me light headed. Worse than any ciggy
snus is awesome. back then we took it mostly because the teacher couldn't smell it in class room. Also shit was fun to throw them at the ceiling.

I wouldn't be able to afford it even if I wanted to smoke.
cause if you're a two pack a day kind of person, the tobacco industry makes around 5113.40 USD off you yearly.
The only person I've ever met who's completely quit smoking would be my father, but he pretty much just traded smoking for drinking. I imagine quitting smoking would be just as hard as quitting a hard drug.
I imagine quitting smoking would be just as hard as quitting a hard drug.
Nicotine is a hard drug. Its incredibly addicting.
Nicotine is a hard drug. Its incredibly addicting.
Well technically you're right, I was refering to things like cocaine and methamphetamine, which is more commonly thought of when you hear "hard drug".
Well technically you're right, I was refering to things like cocaine and methamphetamine, which is more commonly thought of when you hear "hard drug".
Nicotine with Tobacco probably kills more than all of those drugs combined.
Nicotine with Tobacco probably kills more than all of those drugs combined.
So are you saying that that meth and coke are not hard drugs?
cause smoking feels good
Nicotine with Tobacco probably kills more than all of those drugs combined.
it seems like you should be posting evidence proving your point everyone else is doing it
Nicotine with Tobacco probably kills more than all of those drugs combined.
Well, it has hundreds of times as many users as all those drugs combined, so that doesn't surprise me.
So are you saying that that meth and coke are not hard drugs?

Finding a graph was annoying. Not much from the government. So this rates how harmful drugs are. You also have to realize that smoking has been socially acceptable and widespread for a long time.
Finding a graph was annoying. Not much from the government. So this rates how harmful drugs are. Is something being left out?
That's a bullshit graph. I highly doubt that weed is more harmful to people than acid or shrooms.
That's a bullshit graph. I highly doubt that weed is more harmful to people than acid or shrooms.
neither acid nor shrooms have many confirmed longterm effects. I'm surprised heroin is apparently so harmful
You need to understand a smoker. Being a child of two parents that smoked I didn't understand why they disn't quit. My dad stopped smoking when my brother started. But my mom made me realize something. She doesn't smoke because she wants, but she can't bother herself to because it won't change her so long after. That is not really true, but it's hard to stop so why use much of your life and energy to stop. (She have been smoking for around 35 years.)

She doesn't smoke because she wants, but she can't bother herself to because it won't change her so long after.
My dad has a lung condition but started smoking again after meeting some Mexicans. Nicotine is just incredibly addictive.
What only ticks me off about some smokers is how some are inconsiderate. When my dad is confronted about his smoking, he'll say to my mother "Yeah, well, you used to smoke, too." Exactly. Used to. She quit, years ago. He smokes when I'm driving. It's incredibly distracting and aggravating. My car already smells like smoke from when he drove it before I got my license, and I'm still trying to fix it. EDIT I obviously don't mean "all smokers are considerate," hence why I originally said "how some are inconsiderate." I added a "some" before smokers to emphasize this.
If anything it means your dad is a dick, not smokers as a whole.
But I didn't say smokers as a whole? I said "how some are inconsiderate." Maybe I'll move the "some" to before "smokers," to make that clear. My friends dad is a very considerate smoker. I never knew he was until my friend told me so.
That's a bullshit graph. I highly doubt that weed is more harmful to people than acid or shrooms.
Except acid and shrooms are some of the most therapeutically safe drugs known to man.
If any specific drug is mass produced in a country for over a century, then it won't be stomped out in two decades (which is approximately how long anti-tobacco organizations have been prominent and outstanding). There's still an entire civilization of addicts and lifelong smokers who won't put down a cigarette just because people ask. And another growing generation, half of which will be exposed to the previous, tobacco filled one. It's not something that's gonna happen quickly, and nothing can change that. But within at least two generations, tobacco companies will no longer be in business. It's a matter of gradual progress.
Finding a graph was annoying. Not much from the government. So this rates how harmful drugs are. You also have to realize that smoking has been socially acceptable and widespread for a long time.
this seems off and the cannabis and percent seems... yeah, this is way off. Amphetamines aren't THAT bad either are they? and what the fuck does "Harm" mean, they eat someone else's Doritos? or they shoot up heroin and start slitting the necks of babies? [editline]2nd September 2013[/editline]
neither acid nor shrooms have many confirmed longterm effects. I'm surprised heroin is apparently so harmful
its also saying weed is basically as bad as cigarettes but aside from weed what the fuck? everything else should be way different
But I didn't say smokers as a whole? I said "how some are inconsiderate." Maybe I'll move the "some" to before "smokers," to make that clear.
