Personally the original anime is quite endearing if you watched it as a kid. Origin though is incredible if you've even played one of the main games.

Yes, the original anime is kids anime, like little kids, it was great growing up but I would probably feel really embarrassed watching that shit now.
Origins is just a 4 part special thats more serious and pretty much just a tribute and fan service.

It WAS an advertisement for X/Y, hell im pretty sure the subs I watched left some ads in Japanese but I saw 3DS pop up multiple times during the episodes.

They centered the show around the two most interesting story elements from those games (Team Rocket and the Mewtwo story), which I honestly didn't expect them to do, at least to the level that they did. They also confirmed that Mr. Fuji and Dr. Fuji are the same guy, which the games HEAVILY IMPLIED but never confirmed.[/sp]

The story is the exact same in the remakes, though (barring some post-game additions).
