• Hey Garry, why'd you remove some of the tags, and can we those back?

[sub] was really fucking dumb, you had to zoom in to read it, some people made it super fucking small. [editline]23rd July 2013[/editline]
Motherfucker don't tempt him do you not remember Slithersoul
We already have the tags gone.
While we're at it can we have Bad Reading back
it's still there, in the box
Rest in peace subscript. Now I can't make any more man falling off a cliff jokes.
you had to zoom in to read it, some people made it super fucking small.
Copy and paste. The reply button. Both don't require zooming.
Copy and paste. The reply button. Both don't require zooming.
And you don't see anything wrong with having to copy/paste or click the reply button just to read what someone said?
And you don't see anything wrong with having to copy/paste or click the reply button just to read what someone said?
It's literally one click with the reply button. The exact same as [sp]spoiler[/sp] tags.
Sub deserved to get removed, I only ever saw people using it for 'its not like i love you or anything b-baka' additions to their posts where they'd just tack on tiny meaningless writing to the end.
Why was h2 removed? They were great for headings/important stuff
It's literally one click with the reply button. The exact same as [sp]spoiler[/sp] tags.
Again, you don't see anything wrong with having to quote a post just to read it? There is absolutely no reason to make text so small that you can't read it without quoting it.
I don't know why you want to align stuff. I don't agree that people should be spending lots of time formatting their posts, it's not what forums are for. You might think it's very important to have the first post in a thread to have hundreds of images and have everything laid out like it's a website. But it's not. It's a post in a forum.
The thing is, the reason a lot of people are here is because Facepunch is substantially better than any other forum out there. One of the things that really make it stand out is how instead of threads being just conversation, they're used as references and hubs for questions and things like that. It's really nice to be able to just go to the OP of the thread of a game and clearly see where the link to a certain mod-site is or where i can find some user made patch to fix my issues, instead of asking in the thread where it's probably been posted plenty of times before. And whenever a game is about to come out, regardless of how big the thread is I always look at the OP to see all the media released so far. If you get rid of the tools to make tidy, useful posts than OPs and posts will just end up being like any other forums ops would be "uhhh... talk about the game yeah...." and posts would be "oh man do you guys have the latest version of slow-mo mod?" "Uh yeah sure here" 20 pages later "you got the latest slow-mo mod??" [editline]24th July 2013[/editline] although sub and super can go fucking die, everyone just abused it to make tiny as hell text that served as nothing but a signal that the poster is an idiot
I used [sub] and [sup] quite a lot in the Mathematician thread, since for simple equations it's much easier - making it not-nestable would prevent using it in the ways it was not intended. I suppose I could put everything into [; \LaTeX ;] instead...

To suggest that threads would turn into something written by a 12 year old because you can't move some text/images around is foolish.
What the fuck garry, what's wrong with making a forum look good? Using your reasoning, why do we even have customizable titles, or avatars? "This forum is for posting, not showing off your dick!!!!11"
if we get our avatars taken away, this'll all fall on you.
In the general games subforum the OP usually provides useful information in a neat and orderly manor, and now it's like looking at the source code of a wikipedia page for information. [editline]24th July 2013[/editline] except probably not quite as bad as that.
good sup and sub were both dumb and tables fucked up browsing on mobile and made it annoying
Why do you want them back. If you can provide a logical reason for each tag, they will come back.
I sometimes used [sub] and [sup] to write down a formula in a thread
I agree, remove it. some people, like me, have low res screens, text ends up looking like fucking spaghetti sometimes. it does look good on big screens tho.

Megathreads are really important. They provide relevant information that in some cases cannot be found anywhere else besides reading the entire threads or searching for guides or something. Such as essential mods and fixes, and things that are important for a starting player, or really anything you want the most of the local playerbase to see. Much better than expecting everyone to google for such things. Of course such things are possible now, but the notion that megathreads are not right way to do things is in my opinion wrong. That's why I think they deserve the chance to be functionally and aesthetically satisfying.
Sorry guys, I would love to read your posts but I can't because they're all aligned to the left. Do you think you could make a grid and put each sentence in a different cell so I can understand you better?

Sometimes it's nice to have text centered. Sometimes it's nice to have a clean, beautiful OP. Besides, by removing these tags, what exactly would you gain?

is posting 1920px wide images okay now then
Table were really useful for organizing OPs, Garry apparently doesn't see it that way.

I would like to see some examples of posts that use this layout.
is posting 1920px wide images okay now then
It never has been okay unless the thread is meant for it. You're meant to thumb large images.
I would like to see some examples of posts that use this layout.
Just shut up, Slithersoul 2.0.
is posting 1920px wide images okay now then
seeing as how people can easily [img_thumb] them, yes?
Sorry, you need to Log In to post a reply to this thread.
