Happened to me as well, It was in the middle of the night and I was walking to the bathroom, as soon as I put my hand on the knob, I blinked, and it was morning and I was still standing there. What the fuck. and I still had to piss.
It's scary, I woke up and I was like " Wait... What the fuck, I just went to sleep? " It's like blinking your eyes, only weirder.
Happened to me once, I was in a restaraunt with extended family, just ordered, and I blinked and then everyone was done eating. I was freaked out and hungry but I took the food home in a box. It felt weird. No one noticed I guess I had my eyes open the entire time.
Also I was getting surgerory done and the morphine does the same thing, except when I woke up I felt like crap 'cause of the detox.
I hate doing that. One morning when I was preparing for school, I sat down on the couch to watch some tv before I left. I sit down, turn it on, and after a few minutes I blinked. Once I blinked, I looked at the time and saw that it was already 7:40. I was pissed, and thought if I kept blinking I could pass through the entire school day.

And nobody noticed? I have a feeling if I did that with my family they'd be embarrassed and force me to wake up.
Yes. On a plane. Shit was cash.
You're just really tired/bored/relaxed... It's awesome if it happens on long car trips.
I don't get it. What is a "normal" sleep then?
The night feels like it takes longer, fast sleeping is waking up as soon as you close your eyes.
Had this once though :v:
I managed to do fast sleep on a train once, I could still kinda hear the people talking on the train, but when I woke up, we were like 5 minutes away from where we were going.

Yeah this is what sleep is.
Why does this happen? Is it because your mind gets bored or because you're thinking of absolute nothing?
Always happens on car trips for me.
I'm pretty sure you guys are thinking about a more advanced form of microsleep.

thinking of nothing helps.
lol,at my classroom me and my classmates call it timewarp
Happened to me once, but I was fair baked at the time, so it doesn't really count.
It happens to me alot, when I sleep... it only feels like 30 seconds ago I actually went to sleep.
As I got older aswell, it seems I have to be really fucking tired to get to sleep now or I just can't go to sleep.
What the fuck, this just happened to me two days ago:
I woke up at 6.55. I had time for a little nap but first i went to take a morning shit. I sat on the toilet, started to shit. I blinked and everything went black for half a second, then I just shrugged it off. After that I ate breakfast, went for a shower, after all that was finished, i opened the door and walked to school. When I opened the class door...
BAM!
I'm back on the toilet.
Laughed myself to bits after I figured out what happened
This happens every time I smoke weed.
It's SO sweet.
It seems more like memory loss than "fast sleep", but it happened to me as well.
Takes me >5 years to get to sleep.
This only happened to me when I watched Richard Feynman videos on YouTube.
This happened to me as well, I was about 4 or 5 and I was lying in bed staring out into the lit hallway, I was really tired, so what felt like a blink actually took me to about 6 in the morning the next day where the hallway was dark and I ran out to see who switched the light off (I was a bit afraid of sleeping in the complete dark) and I saw no one there. I was really afraid until I noticed the clock said 6:00 AM. I woke up my parents and tried explaining and they shrugged and thought 'Woah, my kid's a crackhead.'
It's odd how this looks really common on the forum but there's no article describing it, or any studies going into it. Not that it would matter looking into it, but it's probably because since obviously your brain perceives 8 hours as about 20-30 minutes while you're asleep, this is a less common type of thing where it feels like just a few seconds. Amazing how our brains can fuck with us and make us feel as though anything is happen when it's not really. I'd be interested to read about how this works, but scientists probably have more important things to look into; I guess I'm just a bit curious.
Oh and while this probably isn't important, I once passed out and what was about 30 seconds felt like a few hours. It's really odd how time can fly by without our brains even noticing it. It would be really cool if someone was born with the ability to control it. I wish I had that.
Yeah, hapened three times to me. Once when I was really young (the night before christmas) I tried forcing it.
This has actually happend to me once before i was chilling in my conservatory at about 11pm, closed my eye's and Bam! the sun was beaming down on my face and it was atleast 7am
I freaked a little :psyduck:
GUYS NEW THEORY. I call it "fast sleeping"...it's like, I'm awake, then I fall asleep and wake to a later time. ALERT THE MEDIA.

Except it feels like you blinked.
So, I had this thing I call "Fast Sleeping". This only happened twice in my life. I was in my family's car then i just closed my eyes then BOOM. I was already where we were suppose to be. Then one night i was sleeping in the floor i closed my eyes, then it was already like 6:00 AM. I'm very curious about this and googling it didn't help. So i ask you Facepunch, did any of you guys had this?
Yea i got this feeling when i had surgery it was a long time ago but i do remember falling asleep and a few secs later im awake
in a few weeks im going for another one im guessing i would get the same feeling
