The ragdoll/death animation at 4:50 when he got hit in the head with a knife thing looked beautiful.
I hope there's as lot of opportunity for calm amidst the chaos. Such as in Fallout, I could always head back to my house at the end of the day, unload all my loot, and relax with my dog. Plus the exploration was really fun.
Now combine this with Valve's lip synching and talking animations and you've got yourself a game.

The very first bit looks like the first scene to black ops, mixed with the knife thing from red dead, with borderlands visuals, in a bar from new vegas. This is going to be good.
I hope it's semi-free roam, the way the first STALKER game was, where it's semi-linear, but you can explore areas and go back through areas you've been in.
It is free roam. You can drive vehicles from place to place like in Borderlands. [editline]3rd June 2011[/editline]
Wow, engine looks darn impressive. How did I not hear about ID or this game until now?!
Cause you live under a rock? ID has been around for 20 years.
Wow, engine looks darn impressive. How did I not hear about ID or this game until now?!
um doom, quake?
Do want.
The guy getting the blade thrown in his face and stumbling forward was the climax of that video for me.
Pinkies. Oh ho ho.
I love how smooth the blades are thrown
BFG-ish weapon at the end?
Imagine if it had dismemberment limbs flying all over the place
Amazing. The part where he dodged this fella's axe throw and proceeded to punch his head to pulp was so cool.
I don't know why everybody has to compare this to fallout or borderlands. Sure, it's post apocalyptic, and it's freeroam/semi-freeroam. Yet the game looks and feels completely different. And it has almost no RPG elements. The RPG elements are very very light. The game looks fucking amazing though, it seems the world, characters, and gameplay is so packed full of detail, yet also simple and very fleshed out. If the game truly is what it says, it might be one of the best FPS games of all time. Detail and polish like this is only found in the very best of studios, and the only other studio I can think of off the very top of my head is Valve. To me this could be the next best thing since Half-Life 2.

I really can't put my finger on it, but it just has that feel about it. Also, Fallout 3 felt incredibly clunky and slow whereas this is completely different.
Why do people complain about GFWL? I have never had a single problem with it.
I bought Dead Rising 2 a while back but can't play thanks to GFWL saying it can't verify my key code. :frown:

Also, being a realistic borderlands is not a bad thing at all. In my opinion all the past ID games (except for doom 3) had that simple, yet complex and fun FPS gameplay. It was always satisfying and addicting, and didn't get really boring till a very long time for me. Borderlands in my opinion also had that polished satisfying gameplay. Maybe that's it? Also if you look at the Quayola box it says 64 shades of brown.

It may also be that Borderlands, at least for me, had a very smooth, satisfying feel to it, which this seems to share. I really need to get some money together and buy this :v: [editline]4th June 2011[/editline] When it's released, I mean.
He punched that dude's fucking head off, take all my money.
Imagine if it had dismemberment limbs flying all over the place
This. In fact, why have games altogether stopped doing nice fucking gore?
i don't like how he throws the knife thing. it looks like he barely throws it.
is it going to have multiplayer?
i don't like how he throws the knife thing. it looks like he barely throws it.
Its a light-weight, durable, and very hard metal. Well at least thats my guess. [editline]3rd June 2011[/editline]
is it going to have multiplayer?
Somehow I doubt it.
is it going to have multiplayer?
yeah
Oh god the face animations are terrible in this video. Also, this looks very linear.
Wow... Consolized the fuck out of it since ive seen it first.
my opinion is that it looks like borderlands+fallout 3.
Oh god the face animations are terrible in this video. Also, this looks very linear.
Since when has an ID game ever not been linear? Also don't worry it's sandbox. [editline]4th June 2011[/editline]
i don't like how he throws the knife thing. it looks like he barely throws it.
It looks awesome to me, it's not like this game is supposed to be realistic or anything. I love how smooth it is.
