I loved the last thread and I'll love this one. I don't know why everyone on this damned forum's gotta find a way to bitch about everything.
Bean-O writes great articles that are informative and quite frankly are fun to read, it's cool to sometimes come across an article for a weapon that was part of history. This Civil War - Wild West era topic is awesome so far.
Why continue this thread?
smith & wesson 500 please!
Why continue this thread?
Because it's epic and informative And Bean-O is awesumesauce
Another thing I need to point out is that when I write something my sources could occasionally be skewed. So don't be afraid to point out any inaccuracies that you find. If I can verify that I have made a mistake I will go back and fix it. That's why new articles aren't added to the OP immediately.
Why continue this thread?
Why not?
Why continue this thread?
Because I didn't anticipate it getting cut short by an auto-close.
So far you've only written articles on either hand-held firearms, the occasional crew-operated machine-gun/vehicle-mounted MG, and a rocket launcher. Do you plan on writing about tank guns, artillery, rockets, missiles, etc. that changed history?

You seriously should do an article on the Rk. 62. It's like a better version of the AK-47.
L85?
Melts when you spray hairspray on it and the mag randomly falls out at any given moment. Yea, really fantastic.

The biggest limiting factor is my lack of knowledge about them. I'm too much of a small arms kind of guy.
L85?
I put it in the weeaboo weaponry thread but in retrospect perhaps a bit unfairly. It is still an expensive, heavy and somewhat flimsy weapon, even if it is supremely accurate. At the same time it isn't rare. In fact there are more of them than some of the other weapons I already wrote about. I'm fence sitting about it for now. There is also a similar situation with the chauchaut (that really horrible french LMG) because in spite of being the single worst weapon ever made it virtually created the LMG which in turn fathered the assault rifle.

Biggest thing that absolutely fascinates me is naval guns, like 18' guns that were on the Musashi and Yamato and the Mark V and what not that are on the Iowa Class today. Just the whole process is simply an amazing work of human ingenuity. Like firing a 2000 pound shell from a platform that's on the water and taking in all the variables like opponent movement, wind, etc. And on the Battleships that was all done without computers. But like Bean-O's mentioned before it might not come to fruition or might not come soon because he's a small arms gun and not an arty guy.
I love you Bean-O. Have my children (how? lol) Sucks about the auto page cutoff. Someone should make a book called "Bean-O's Fantastic Firearms."

Yo Bean-O, why don't you do the British Baker rifle next? It was one of the first British rifles to be widely used and the rifle regiments that used them greatly disrupted French forces during the Peninsular War by sniping officers and NCO's.

What about a Lee-Enfield? It's been widely used since the 1910's, how can it be bad?
What about a Lee-Enfield? It's been widely used since the 1910's, how can it be bad?
I think it was already covered.
