If not, only thing I could think of is some sort of pipe cutting tool and clean it up with a chamfer tool.
Quite literally, a brake line kit.
Bop
Gawd I'm dragging this thread back with me from the depths.
I was looking for info on making any kind of easy launcher, I've never made one before but it looks fun.
For a 40mm?
40mm PVC get.
Sandpaper get.
Calk gun get.
slide-y bit or hinge-y bit get.
sand 40mm pvc pipe to fit 40mm grenade because it isn't quite big enough inside, barely too small.
line calk gun rod up with center of pipe for attachment, may need filler material if hinge-y bit or slide-y bit doesn't make it perfect, you can bend metal and shit, whatever.
attach calk gun to pipe.
you now have 40mm launch.
I'm toying with gutting an Orion 12ga flare gun and loading it with Goblin shells. Would be fun as a sidearm.
Bonus points if you modify the little shell holder on the Orion to fit a bunch of goblin shells so you can actually use it.
Flare guns are rad as hell.

There's a shell holder on an Orion? I'm talking about this kind of flare gun:

I meant this thing, but i don't know if it comes with every one.

Interesting. Not sure how it's meant to be used but hey, if it comes with the gun I'll do it.
I think it's just meant to keep shells with the gun so you don't fuck yourself over if you grab the gun and nothing else in an emergency, it doesn't look like you could properly hold it or even cock the hammer with it attached to the back like that, but i think it looks cool.

I too am pretty heavily considering doing this
How would the firing mechanism on that DIY 40mm work?
Does the metal bar in the calk gun strike the primer on the grenade?
Considering making a homemade S-thunder type launcher.

Yep, it's an ugly system, but it works.
Question: What brand of 40mm do you guys like best? I figure if I make a launcher I'd need to get/borrow a shell to check all the fitting and test firing. The other launcher I was looking at was the Nerf rocket type, might be a more affordable option.
Aside from the launcher, I've been looking at dummy M26 grenades for my VN loadout, for looks and to act as a counterweight for all the heavy stuff I have in back (2 full canteens, buttpack, etc.). I saw some rough looking dummies on Amazon for about $14 each, but I'm thinking of ways I could make them without having to pay as much (per grenade).
I'm no metalworker but I think I could do well making them out of wood on a lathe or CNC machine. I'd make it in two halves and hollow out the center to fill it with lead weight. Not sure how I'd do the safety lever mechanism and whatnot on top though. It won't feel as fondle worthy being made out of wood (unless I can cover it with metal but that's more money/work) but it should look good and weigh enough as a prop.
Honestly, Madbull is best, but MAG made some pretty decent cheapies.
S-Thunders and CAW grenades are rock solid but are a bit pricey. Madbull is good, but way too expensive.
If you just plan on shooting footballs Ive heard semi-decent things about those POM grenades and also about those cheapo "Matrix"/eagle arms/chinashit grenades that Evike sells, so long as you are comfortable replacing the seals they come with.
If you plan on shooting BBs out of them, avoid the clone ones because they are usually based off of the CA shell design which was pretty shit for BB launching.
Timebomb did you finish that tank?

I've had better luck with the mag ones than the matrix ones though, maybe I just got lucky. Timebomb is the god of grenades for anyone that doesn't know.
I was thinking of other launchers I could do, and then I thought it'd be neat to launch those Enola Gaye smoke grenades and anything else that has a similar size (or BB's). Some crossbow/slingshot similar to the stuff Joerg does to launch random things. Also I saw this thing and thought it'd be neat to have the smoke grenade pin attached to a hook so it's activated the same time it's launched.

Something like this, except I'd just need to figure out a trigger mechanism and something to stop the plate from flying out the barrel. Also the piece that holds the bungee hooks won't be as wide apart, and I'd prefer to have a shorter barrel, unless it turns into a shotgun sort of thing. I guess I could do something with a spring too but I don't know how much power that'd get me compared to bungee.
i maek flar gnu

Basically I just took the normal 2 piece firing mechanism, cut it up, JB welded it together, drilled a new mounting hole in the frame (after some pain in the ass measuring) and it works just like a normal goblin pistol
[t]http://i.imgur.com/EP1pySP.jpg[/t]
I also had to bore the barrel out to fit the goblin shells, which took around 2 hours of dremeling, but they fit great now.

Was it an affordable option compared to the Goblin?

boner points 4 me!

[sp]it didnt even require any modification[/sp]
Was it an affordable option compared to the Goblin?
By a bit, yeah.
You have to buy the shells in a $55 5-pack unless you already have them like I did.
Just comparing the guns though:
The Goblin by itself is $60 + shipping. This thing was $40 from Walmart, has better ergonomics, fits in a pistol holster, and is badass as fuck.
Other than 3-4 hours of work and a few more to let the JB weld cure, its literally 100x better IMO
I wonder if you can actually get flare guns in the UK. Knowing us you'll probably need about 50 licenses and several hundred pounds to be able to even look at one.
Shame, since it'd make a fun addition to a HL2 themed loadout.

I'd be kind of surprised if they were super hard to get ahold of considering how big of a sport sailing and other boating shit is in the UK
[editline]e[/editline]
here I literally just walked into a walmart and bought it no questions asked, they didnt even ID me or anything :v:
so for my next project I'm doing something with my football cannon
seen at 4:35 here

currently I'm torn between making into a giant anti-materiel rifle (like an RT-20)

Or something like a proto-OICW (like an XM1970)

Thoughts?
anti tank rifle go
Anti Material rifle would be so gorgeous.
For the love of God, NTW-20.

omg no do a Boys ATR
have it gravity feed nerf footballs and shit
make a lahti so you can also use it as transport when it's snowy
srsly i think rt-20 would be the easiest/best option because it's really similar to the one you already have, just a big breechloading tube
I've been reading about some of these air cannons used in airsoft, and I'm wondering what kind of QEV is it that you use timebomb?
From what I've read, it has 3 ends
input
output into chamber/input from chamber
output to barrel
I might just be dumb but I've never seen anything like this so could someone who knows please help me out?
This is the kind that I use, and yeah like you said, 3 ends.
