I've grown up with facepunch(feels thread) - General

I found these forums only because I was looking for 'mindfuck' images on Goolgle and it directed me to the megathread. But I made an account because it looked interesting and I've lurked ever since, no regrets I do miss seeing random shit threads by Doug though who's accounts became a ban on sight, when MM3 guy took over the forums and turned it into Hoffpunch, Foghorn posting attention seeking selfies of herself saying she 'just got out of bed' only for her to be flamed, the idiot culls, Hezzy the Facepunch Gestapo, when GD used to be the place to be and one of the most active sub forums and finally the and smartness system which were a right laugh and need to come back for a day or 2

I remember when there was an actual contraptions section. First thing I learned from FP was how to make a balloon-powered airboat bomber with ent_fire commands to break wooden boards that had explosive barrels welded to them. That aside, my speeling, punchuashon and gramer would probably be nowhere near as good as it is now if it weren't for FP. Bring back smerntess!!!

Jeez, doesn't feel like I've been here for two and a half years at all. Facepunch has honestly done a lot for me - Made me post more conservatively and actually think about what I'm saying, introduced me to DotA 2(which in turn got me into video game commentary), I even met the love of my life on here. I don't think I could ask for more from an internet forum.

It's hard to believe I've been on FP for 7 years now, signed up to get access to the Gmod 10 beta. Got insta-banned shortly after for posting "O RLY?!"

I miss the custom forums that were here for a tiny bit, sadly, I know it wouldn't work now (and even then) since of moderation issues.

This was when garry had a birthday and... i dont want to talk about it anymore..

i was only 12 when i joined, though i had half life / gmod for a few months before. i know it was version 1-3, but i remember while i was installing HL2 i found gmod on planet half life and was creaming over the idea of being able to play with the physics freely. the only thing you could do in that version was play the original HL2 maps with a pistol that attaches rope between two points and a rocket launcher that shoots melons/babies. my first instinct was to attach a bunch of scanners to boxes/pallets with objects on them and try to make them carry it away. the number of people i have met irl through FP/garrysmod must be running up to about 40 spanning a few countries, including my now girlfriend of almost 4 years.

Speaking of Join Date Elitism though, I love coming across people when they genuinely try to one up someone with their join date, warms the cockles of my heart to just shut them down.

About 1/3 of them I still keep in contact today with (mostly FP'ers). About 3 of them I'm really good friends with. Shit was rough back in the day.

I also have grown up with facepunch but now I am addicted to it like mothers milk.

I registered here when I was 10 because I thought this was a forum for portal 2 conspiracy theorists. didn't play garry's mod much because it was unplayably broken

I started lurking here back in 08 and now I'm 18. I love this site, though it sure has been better.

I had been playing Garry's Mod for quite some time and had visited this site before, but had never made an account until I tried out Rust in December 2013. Went straight to the Rust forum and quickly realized how shitty it was, so I moved to other threads and saw how much people were ripping on the Rust forums at the time due to the game's surge in popularity. To be one of the cool kids I stopped going to the Rust section and found other areas.

Been around since Garry's Mod 7. Facepunch was golden back in the 2006 - 2010 days. I feel it was more executive and refined than what it has become today. Additionally the Christmas themes. Always brings me fond winter memories of my grandmother's home when I would browse from there. Good times indeed.
