Why do people put their PEQ boxes on the top rail, in some cases where they blatantly block sights? It's been nagging at me for a while, i just don't understand.

Well usually it would clear the sites or be in the bottom third, while being out of the way of hand placement, and the placement of other attachments.
Real world it's so you can manipulate the controls without taking your hand off the weapon by any significant degree. A lot of times you'll see operators doing the Chris Costa grip so that their hand is always on the peq box.
Otherwise it also helps to keep the weapon balanced and streamlined. If it's on the left side it can get in the way of any proper grip and if it's on the right you have to rotate your weapon off target to get to it. Lastly I should mention a lot of optics like the EOTech 553 and EXPS series were raised in comparison to their earlier models to help clear over lasers, and magnified optics aren't actually obscured by them to any significant degree by their nature.
And of course if it's a fake one, true to the nature of airsoft it's so that it looks and/or feels right. Obviously a lot of airsofters never really use their optics to begin with so having your sight slightly obscured isn't that big of an issue anyway.

I personally put it on the top because it feels less bulky and more stream lined. I grip my foregrip ye olde style, and when the PEQ is on the side my thumb is slamming into it, not to mention I like having my light on the right. Its really all about preference. My sight is blocked a little but not too badly, since I use a high profile RDS.
I'm not even using the PEQ-15 on mine lol. Pressure pad isn't long enough to be placed anywhere effectively. It's just on there for looks. (And the battery is pretty much dead).

I know it's kind of late, but real PEQs are designed to be put on the top rail. All the adjustment knobs are set up for if it's mounted on the top. Also mounting it on top makes it easier to adjust the lasers so they line up with your barrel. You've also got to remember that a PEQ box is an optic, you wouldn't have you iron sights or other optics on your side rail. When I was in the Marines our SOP was to mount the PEQs on the top rail unless you were a 203 gunner, so when ever I see a PEQ anywhere besides the top rail it looks dumb to me.

Thanks Herf for suggesting a TM plastic barrel and slide for my WE G17. I got it today and installed it. I thought I'd hate it because it was plastic and I like the metal clankity clankity. But the performance makes up for it. It's really solid feeling actually and I love the RS trademarks.

Definitely worth it. I only swapped the barrel on mine, but if they made a G19, I'd probably switch the slide too.

I used my revolver today and slapped on an RDS and holy shit. Best sidearm I've ever had.
When I used the RDS I never missed once; every shot I took hit someone. I got about 8 kills with it. I swear it reaches farther than my sopmod

No, I just make kind of a lot for my age and I have barely anything I really need to pay for leaving me a lot of money to blow on airsoft and car parts. Mainly airsoft although I've been getting back into my car recently.
