Haha I just noticed that too. That piece is kinda loose actually. These are old pics, but I've done more work to it.
FAL is doing like 330fps with 0.28s - stock barrel which I'll replace later
AK74 still needs breaking in, but doing like 270 with 0.28s - when I put more rounds through the bucking it will get better hopefully. Been lazy with it.

It was black. I painted it tan but it looked hella stupid so I started rubbing it off and now it looks buried in sand as fuck.

Updated my TM G3A3 with a tri-rail and brass deflector (that can be seen in my last picture). The rail was meant for RS G3s and required modification of the TM upper receiver to fit. But it's all worth it, and now I feel like my rifle's more versatile. I went out and bought JB Weld to repair the charging handle on my Type 89 (and also to weld an optic rail onto it), and ended up using some to stick a salvaged brass deflector from an M4 onto the right side of my G3 as well.
I'm really happy with the way this rifle is as is, would still eventually like a proper flash hider, rear sight, and sliding stock.

Yeah it had the railed handguards but I never liked them. I switched it out with a real set of shorty bulgarian handguards which feel much better than the airsoft ones.

Can't tell if it;s just the lighting or what, but that TM receiver looks like it has an unusually good coloration/finish instead of the typical black.
TM G3 is very grey
it's H&K grey, yeah. I thought all TM G3s were like that, but I could be wrong.
You just don't normally see airsoft G3's that are gray like the real ones, seems like most of the airsoft ones are black.
Yeah, the JG, CA, and G&G ones are black. TM makes the only grey ones.

Type 89 is ever evolving.
Installed the left hand fire selector and scope mount
ordered a Vortex strikefire so the scope mount wouldn't be so empty. Also gives me +3 to sighting and lets me shoot with my NVG when I don't want to use my laser.
Just gotta figure out a way to allow me to mount a tac light, for the surefire vampire I'm saving up for.
Shell catcher and armoury markings are next on the to do list.
