The A&K wood kit I bought for my SVD was similarly awful.

Spotted this in an evike boneyard for $150 and thought I would get something to go with my Thompsons. Externally it was perfect, but the internals had become swiss cheese and I had a spare TM V.6 gearbox laying around so I stuck that in there. Surprisingly, the stock hop-up in this thing is pretty good, it works perfectly with the TM gearbox. This gun has to be the biggest pain in the ass I've ever worked on though, just disassembling it to get to the gearbox took a few hours. (Like G36, G36c(?), g36k, ak74, a74m, akm etc) Is there a thread on this subforum for help with repairs?

Both reasons are because there is virtually no viable market for them.

Take out every screw and wrap it in teflon tape. Wrape the entire back plate with teflon tape as well, this will essentially stop it from ever leaking. If you have gen 3 then sit back and relax, with your trouble free magazines.
