Or mix a bit of ochre paint with water, slop it all over the gun with a brush, remove excess, let dry, then scrub it down with a wet rag. Lifts the paint right off, leaving it in the cracks and recesses.
I'm back. Here's my latest project, turning a G&G M14 into a sort of bastard G43.
Here's what I started with:

Everything above the stock is made from scratch out of sintra pvc plastic, which was a new experience getting to heat form parts. I enjoyed that a lot. All wood grain is painted on, the stock was originally black. The biggest thing I have to do yet is fabricate a new magazine, because the M14 mag is quite obviously way too big. I think if I can pull that off, it will lose some of the oddness that it exudes right now. Shoots like a dream, though.

While probably too short, you may want to look into the shorty M14 magazines that came out last year.

If its not the right size, a faux extension should be able to get the look down pretty damn well.

Ahh right, although I think there may be a guide for modifying G&G/CA compatible mids into shorty size.
My original plan was to modify a pre-existing mag and cut it down to size, but after seeing how they actually work that went down the drain in a hurry. Right now I've got a UTG springer shotgun mag on order which I am planning to use as the internals, and I will just fabricate an exterior around it.

If anyone knows of a way to convert those MAG short magazines to fit a CA or G&G M14, I would be VERY interested in hearing it. As far as I know it really isn't possible without a lot of work because of the shitty step they cut into the top of it...very frustrating.

I think a further issue is that the bb placement on TM mags is farther forwards then it is on G&G type mags. Either way, it might be possible to combine parts from both kinds of mags to get the right effect, such as removing the top of the G&G mag and attaching it to the rest of the TM shorty mag.

Have a friend who owned a Hurricane Shrike. Shot alright but I really didn't care for it at all. Got to field it once. Stupid box mag kept dropping out of the gun whenever I went into a sprint. Wires for the box mag popped off their solder points and I had to resort to using the box mag as a giant windup hicap.
