After a long day at work I come home to find a package has arrived. G&G Specter DR with working 1-4x lever and illuminated dot. Ordered this from a paintball store of all places, go figure.

1x. There is some optical distortion on this setting. Crosshair isn't in focus when your eye is focused on your target.

4x. Much clearer sight picture, no observable distortion. Crosshair is in focus when your eye is focused on your target. Dot can be illuminated either red or green on 5 brightness levels.

Throw lever for changing the magnification is easy to manipulate while using a magwell grip. Simply push down then move the lever to the 1x or 4x position, then push up to lock it into place.

I've always wondered, can you actually leave the lever half way in betwen the positions for a lower magnification?
It depends on how they make the particular replica, but it's not like a camera lens where it zooms evenly between the highest and lowest point. It moves an extra element in or out to increase the magnification, so if the lever is halfway you might actually not be able to see anything.

Nope. When you move the lever it's physically turning the optics like it's on a turntable. Putting in the halfway position results in seeing nothing or a highly distorted image.

I only paid $30 for it and fixed it in an hour for free so I'm pretty happy. I'm gonna have to go back into the gearbox though because the motor spacing mechanism makes me want to tear my eyeballs out.

I really like this FAMAS because it looks like something you'd expect to see a French soldier in Afghanistan or Mali using with the paintjob, rails and Aimpoint.

its an acquired taste in terms of ergonomics, but you get used to it. The only thing I really hate is the chin weld

holy shit! I just saw a real FAMAS at the Eiffel Tower today lol. The woman wielding it had some French woodland camo, a black beret, and this weird looking cross between web gear and a cross draw(looked like web gear from the front, but had the mesh backing that crossdraws do)
For me it was three dudes with green berets iirc, I wasn't into airsoft at the time so I don't remember what web gear/load bearing thing they wore but they had the awsm french woodland
They were talking to some homeless guy too :v:

I'm sorry to hear that. What exactly is wrong with it? I bought mine off a guy who said it just wouldn't work and it just had a stripped pinion and messed up fuse. I deleted the fuse and replaced the pinion and it was fine. It sounds really scratchy but from the videos I watched that's normal. Also, fuck the motor adjustment screw on these.
Fuck everything about it, the gearbox, the trigger mechanism, the body construction, fuck it all :v:
I'm not quite sure. I changed out the battery a long time ago to a lower powered spring because of the field I used to go to, but it started miss feeding like crazy to the point where only 1 in 10 shots fired. Eventually I moved to CO and have been going to a field that allows a higher FPS limit, so I changed the spring back to the original and... something went wrong, I'm not quite sure. Now, it makes some weird ass screeching and winding noise when I go to fire it, its stuck in full auto, and doesnt feed at all. I checked the gears and they kept misaligning themselves every time I shot and I don't know why. Nothing was broken, everything was in place right, I just don't know whats wrong.

It's probably just a maglevel Pmag which is a normal pmag with the window. Emags aren't really meant for AR15 receivers. Also yeah, from here it looks like a CQT Mk4 which is badass but not actually the best optic and crazy expensive. Have a bigger picture?
