Is Enterprise even considered canon? God, that show was an abomination.
Nah it was pretty god, not as good as the ones before of course but the last 2 seasons was really good. And why would it not be canon, it was made by the same people(mostly) who made the other shows.
Here is a funny question; Does any know if they can land the Enterprise on a planet, because in the 09 movie it's being built on the ground?

Ships being built on the ground was something only in that movie as far as I'm aware.

The saucer sections of most Starfleet ships can detach and land on a planet in a worst case scenario, but none of them are designed to take off again. Only the Intrepid and maybe the Defiant classes can take off.
TMP Enterprise Saucer was able to land on planets but it was never used. http://en.memory-alpha.org/wiki/Saucer_separation#Appendices And the MSD for the DS9 Defiant has landing Gear. Then again the Defiant is a small ship. [t]http://images2.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20110421143918/memoryalpha/en/images/c/c0/Defiant_class_MSD.jpg[/t]
Did anyone notice that the Enterprise-A-B and E have a very similar looking bridge set. To me it looks like they just redressed the same set, but why they didn't redress the set from the 'D' is beyond me. I think the bridge from the 'D' seemed more in line with the 24th century and the 'E' looks like they are going back to the style of the 23rd century. I noticed the model of the Enterprise-E looks more like the Enterprise-B and Excelsior than the 'D'.
The Enterprise in ST09 was built on Earth, but that's about it. Actually the Ent-E set was brand new I believe, but it was based on the Ent-A bridge.
I just started watching through a star trek series for the first time! It's because I watched First Contact and fucking loved it, so naturally I wanted to start with TNG. I did try TOS but I just couldn't get into it because of the visuals, I have no doubt that I'll try again someday, but for now I'm very excited for what's in store!

DS9 and Voyager follow more or less the same tone of 1st season roughness.

But the show is amazing after, the best of all the series IMO.
Been watching DS9 and I can attest to the fact that S3 is indeed amazing. And so begins the Dominion stuff. And fuck me, I love the Cardassians. Gul Dukat and Garak specifically.
I never quite understood the purpose that landing gear served on Voyager, every other ship seems to work perfectly fine with transporters and shuttlecraft.
I still find it stupid that they have forcefields for windows in TNG. What if the power goes out like it always does? [editline]17th November 2011[/editline] and TNG doesn't get good until Riker grows a beard.
I never quite understood the purpose that landing gear served on Voyager, every other ship seems to work perfectly fine with transporters and shuttlecraft.
Presumably, the Intrepid class was designed for long range exploration, and they'd land on a planet for days if not weeks at a time to do a survey. And also plot and such
So, did anyone else hear that Patrick Stewart will be at Super MegaFest 2011 tomorrow in Framingham, MA? Because I'm going for his panel and then to get a picture and an autograph afterward.
I have to say though, my favourite space ship models from an aesthetic point of view are Enterprise A(refitted or whatever), Enterprise E and NX01.
Actually the Ent-E set was brand new I believe, but it was based on the Ent-A bridge.
Why did they go back to the old config?

I've been watching Voyager and The Original Series for a couple of months now, but I've only seen two or three episodes of The Next Generation - will I be okay to watch the TNG films? My friend has the DVDs and he offered to lend me them.

He only has the films on DVD though, I think anyway. I'll probably watch TNG through once I'm done with Voyager anyway, so I'll just hold off watching the films.
The Borg part won't.
I'm afraid that doesn't make a lot of sense. Mind explaining?
I'm afraid that doesn't make a lot of sense. Mind explaining?
You can watch 'First Contact' without knowing who the Borg are. It explains the history of Star Trek. Why do you think that you can't? I wish those other 2 guys wouldn't flame my comments with disagree ratings.
You can watch 'First Contact' without knowing who the Borg are. It explains the history of Star Trek. Why do you think that you can't?
Without watching any of the Borg-related episodes, most people won't completely understand why Picard has such a vendetta against them (And why he has nightmares about them in the first part of the movie), how most of their technologies work, how they even found out about humans in the first place (When they first encountered the Borg after Q threw them 7000 light years into uncharted space) and why they want to assimilate all of humanity. Besides, he hasn't seen a lot of episodes of TNG in general. This will help him get more into the series. Not everyone can learn everything about a pseudo race of cybernetic beings bent on the assimilation of all other species just from watching one movie. Oh, and by the way, Dirty Harry, be sure to watch the Star Trek: Enterprise episode "Rengeneration" (2x23) after you see Star Trek: First Contact. It wraps up the "loop" for the TNG-era Borg series. You'll know what I mean after I see it.

Lebe lang und glücklich!
I took this picture [t]http://cloud.steampowered.com/ugc/594703803929906011/4015D2B7B20785BB1E4DAC2A4A32815106DEBF34/[/t] And now I want to watch DS9.
Oh god, I think they just added every Star Trek movie onto Canadian Netflix, I'm like losing my shit here.
